I'm a singer, not a musician (To misquote McCoy).
But:
G7.......C......Bb7..........A7
When the shades of night are falling,
........Dm.....G7.......C
Comes a fellow everyone knows.
.............C#dim..Dm
It's the old dope peddler,
..........C.......G7......C....G7....C...G7
Spreading joy wherever he goes.
(Repeat) Every evening you will find him,
Around our neighborhood.
It's the old dope peddler
Doing well by doing good.
C7.F...................Em
He gives the kids free samples,
..Dm..................C
Because he knows full well
.......Dm..........G7.......C...-A7
That today's young innocent faces
..........D7............Dm7...G7
Will be tomorrow's clientele.
.........C........Bb7......A7
Here's a cure for all your troubles,
..........Dm.....G7.....C
Here's an end to all distress.
.............C#dim...Dm
It's the old dope peddler
.........C........G7...C
With his powdered happiness.

I think you can get round Masochism Tango with a 3-chord trick.

It's the actions which are the problem!

Not being a guitarist, I haven't "worked these out". They're taken from a Tom Lehrer song book.

  C.........A7,,,,,,,,,,,,,,D7......G7
Spring is here, a-suh-puh-ring is here.
C.......A7...........D7......G7
Life is skittles and life is beer.
Dm7.........G7........C...........G7
I think the loveliest time of the year
.......C.........A7........D7
Is the spring. I do, don't you?
............G7
'Course you do.
............Dm.............G7...............C..
But there's one thing that makes spring complete for me,
....D7...................G.........Gdim--G7
And makes every Sunday a treat for me:
........C..............Cmaj7.....C6..........C..
All the world seems in tune on a spring afternoon,
................................Gdim..G7..
When we're poisoning pigeons in the park.
......Dm............F+.....F..............Dm6..
Every Sunday you'll see my sweetheart and me,
......G7........................C..
As we poison the pigeons in the park.
.....Fm....
When they see us coming, the birdies all try and hide,
...................................G7....
But they still go for peanuts when coated with cyanide.
....C.............Cmaj7........C6..............C
The sun's shining bright, everything seems all right,
...........D7........G7.............C...
When we're poisoning pigeons in the park.
......G7sus4.....G7.........Cmaj7.........C6
We've gained notoriety, and caused much anxiety
......G7sus4......G7............Cmaj7--C6
In the Audubon Society with our games.
.....A7sus4....A7........Dmaj7......D6..
They call it impiety and lack of propriety,
....A7sus4.....A7.................D..
And quite a variety of unpleasant names.
.........D7................G..
But it's not against any religion
...D7...................G7
To want to dispose of a pigeon.
G7+ then(repeat chords from "All The World")
So if Sunday you're free, why don't you come with me,
And we'll poison the pigeons in the park.
And maybe we'll do in a squirrel or two,
While we're poisoning pigeons in the park.

We'll murder them all amid laughter and merriment,
Except for the few we take home to experiment.
My pulse will be quickening with each drop of strychnine
...D7........G7.........D7...........G7
We feed to a pigeon. It just takes a smidgin
...D7.......G7............C
To poison a pigeon in the park.

Hope this all makes sense. I've tried to match up chords to correct syllables for changes.

Apologies to all! the chord/words matched up when typed in the reply box. unfortunately the dots used to separate chords have squeezed up leaving chords over wrong syllables.
I'm not sur how to get around this, but will try if anyone has suggestions.
However, all chords are above the correct line of words, so someone may be able to understand it.

Subject: Lyr/Chords Add: WE WILL ALL GO TOGETHER WHEN WE GO
From: Nigel Parsons
Date: 13 Mar 02 - 05:39 AM

Try a different way!

WE WILL ALL GO TOGETHER WHEN WE GO

When (Fm) you attend a funeral
It is (C7) sad to think that sooner or
Later (Fm) those you love will (Db7) do the same for (C7) you (Db7..C7)
And you (Fm) may have thought it tragic
Not to (C7) mention other adject-
Ives to (Fm) think of all the (G7) weeping they will (C7) do.
(But don't you worry)
No more (Fm) ashes, no more sack cloth
And an (Gb) armband made of black cloth
Will (C7) someday never more adorn a (F) sleeve.
For if the bomb that drops on (F7) you
Gets your (Bb) friends and neighbors (G7) too,
There'll be nobody left behind to (F) grieve.

POS.1
(C7) And (Gm/D) we (Edim) will (F) all go together when (F+) we (Bb) go.
What a comforting (Gm) fact that is to (C7) know.
Uni- (F) versal be- (F7) reavement,
An (F+) in- (Bb) spiring a- (G7) chievement,
Yes, (B) we (C7) all will go together when we (F) go. (Db7)

We will (Gb) all go together when (Gb+) we (Cb) go,
All suffused with an (Abm) incandescent (Db7) glow.
No one will (Gb) have the en- (Gb7) durance
To (Gb+) col- (Cb) lect on his in- (Abm) surance.
Lloyds (C) of (Db7) London will be loaded when they (Gb) go. (D7)

We will (G) all fry together when we (F) fry.
We'll be French-fried potatoes by and (E..Eb..E) by.
There will (E) be no more misery
When the (F) world is our rotisserie.
Yes, we (B7) all will fry together when we (E) fry.

Down by the (E) old (F#7) mael- (B7) strom,
There'll be a storm be- (G#7) fore the (C#m) calm. (C7)
(Chords from POS 1)
And we'll all bake together when we bake.
There'll be nobody present at the wake.
With complete participation,
In that grand incineration
Nearly three billion hunks of well-done steak.

We will all char together when we char.
And let there be no moaning at the bar.
Just sing out a Te Deum
When you see that ICBM
And the party will be "come as you are".

We will all burn together when we burn.
There'll be no need to stand and wait your turn.
When it's time for the fallout,
And Saint Peter calls us all out,
End of repeat section
We'll just (B7) drop our agendas and ad- (E) journ. (E7)

(Am) You will all go directly to your respective Val- (D7) hallas
Go di- (Gm) rectly. Do not pass GO. Do not collect two hundred (C7) dolla's

And (Gm/D) we (Edim) will (F) all go together when (F+) we (Bb) go,
Ev'ry Hottentot and (Gm) ev'ry Eski- (C7) mo.
When the (F) air becomes u- (F7) ranious,
We will (Bb) all go simul- (Gm) taneous.
Yes, (B) we (C7) all will go together when we (D7) all go together.
Yes, we (Gm) all will go to- (C7) gether when we (F) go.

You can't do "Masochsm Tango" with a three chord trick unless you leave out the "At Your Command..." section. There was a very good Tom Lehrer songbook. Maybe you will be able to find it. If all else fails and you do not get what you want within a couple of days, PM me at the weekend. Good luck.

That seemed to work better, must remember to add line breaks when pasting from the DT

MASOCHISM TANGO (Tom Lehrer)

(spoken) Another familiar type of love song is the passionate or fiery variety, usually in tango tempo, in which the singer exhorts his partner to haunt him and taunt him and, if at all possible, to consume him with the kiss of fire. This particular illustration of this genre is called ``The Masochism Tango''.

I (Dm)ache for the touch of your (Gm)lips, dear,
But much (C7)more for the touch of your whips, dear.
(A7)You can raise welts like (Dm)nobody else,
As we (A7)dance to the Masochism (Dm)Tango.

Let our (Dm)love be a flame, not an (G7)ember,
Say it's (C7)me that you want to dis(F)member.
(A7)Blacken my eye, set (Dm)fire to my (Gm)tie,
As (A7)we dance to the Masochism (Dm)Tango.

At your com(Gm)mand before you here I (F)stand,
My (Dm)heart is in my (G)hand ....Eech! ...
It's (C#dim)here that I must (D)be.
(D7)My heart en(Gm)treats, just (C7)hear those savage (F)beats,
And (Dm)go put on your (Gm)cleats and (C7)come and trample (F)me.(A7)

Your (Dm)heart is hard as stone or ma(Gm)hogany,
That's why (C7)I'm in such exquisite (F)agony.
My (A7)soul is on fire, it's a(Dm)flame with de(Gm)sire,
Which is (A7)why I perspire when we (Dm)tango.

You caught my (Bb)--(Bb7)nose in your left casta(Eb)net, love,
I can feel the pain (A7)yet, love,
Ev'ry time I hear (Dm)drums.
And I envy the (Bb)rose that you held in your (Eb)teeth, love,
With the thorns under(A7)neath, love, sticking into your gums.

Your (Dm)eyes cast a spell that be(Gm)witches.
The (C7)last time I needed twenty (F)stitches
To (A7)sew up the gash that you (Dm)made with your (Gm)lash,
As we (A7)danced to the Masochism (Dm)Tango.

Bash in my (Gm)brain, and (C7)make me scream with (F)pain,
Then (Dm)kick me once a(Gm)gain, and (C#dim)say we'll never (D)part.
(D7)I know too (Gm)well I'm (C7)underneath your (F)spell,
so, (Dm)Darling, if you (Gm)smell something (C7)burning, it's my (F)heart
(A7)Excuse me!

Take (Dm)your cigarette from its (Gm)holder,
And (C7)burn your initials in my (F)shoulder.
(A7)Fracture my spine, and (Dm)swear that you're (Gm)mine,
As we (A7)dance to the Masochism (Dm)Tango.

My Tom Lehrer book has the following for the Masochism Tango.

I (Dm) ache for the touch of your (Gm) lips, dear,
But much (C7) more for the touch of your whips, dear.
(A7) You can raise welts
Like (Dm) nobody else,
As we (A7) dance to the Masochism (Dm) Tango.

Let our (Dm) love be a flame, not an (Gm) ember.
Say it's (C7) me that you want to dis- (F) member.
(A7) Blacken my eye,
set (Dm) fire to my (Gm) tie,
As we (A7) dance to the Masochism (Dm) Tango.

At your com- (Gm) mand be- (C7) fore you here I (F) stand.
My (Dm) heart is in my (Gm) hand. (Spoken: Ecch!)
It's (C#dim) here that I must (D) be.
(D7) My heart en- (Gm) treats.
Just (C7) hear those savage (F) beats,
And (Dm) go put on your (Gm) cleats,
And (c7) come and trample (F) me. (A7)

Your (Dm) heart's hard as stone or ma- (Gm) hogany.
That's why (C7) I'm in such exquisite (F) agony.
My (A7) soul is on fire.
It's a- (Dm) flame with de- (Gm) sire,
Which is (A7) why I perspire when we (Dm) tango.

You caught my (Bb) nose (Bb7)
In your left casta- (Eb) net, love.
I can feel the pain (A7) yet, love.
Every time I hear (Dm) drums;
And how I envy the (Bb) rose (Bb7)
That you held in your (Eb) teeth, love,
With the thorns under- (A7) neath, love,
Sticking into your gums.

Your (Dm) eyes cast a spell that be- (Gm) witches.
The (C7) last time I needed twenty (F) stitches
To (A7) sew up the gash
You (Dm) made with your (Gm) lash
As we (A7) danced to the masochism (Dm) tango.

Bash in my (Gm) brain
And (C7) make me scream with (F) pain.
Then (Dm) kick me once a- (Gm) gain
And (C#dim) say we'll never (D) part.
(D7) I know too (Gm) well
I'm un- (C7) derneath your (F) spell,
So (Dm) darling if you (Gm) smell
Something (C7) burning, it's my (F) heart. (Spoken: Excuse me.)

Take (Dm) your cigarette from its (Gm) holder
And (C7) burn your initials in my (F) shoulder.
(A7) Fracture my spine
And (Dm) swear that you're (Gm) mine
As we (a7) dance to the Masochism (Dm) Tango.

Good luck with that one. I love his work but I can't play it. Is he still around?

Not quite off-topic, Any Terry Pratchett (Discworld) fans out there ?
The following was based on one of the recurring characters, and tuned to "Old Dope Peddler"

Cut-Me-Own-Throat Dibbler
Nigel Parsons 1998

When 'The Shades' at night are crawling,
Comes a fellow everyone knows,
Cut-Me-Own-Throat Dibbler,
Slicing meat from corpses toes.

Ev'ry afternoon you'll find him
In the market's neighbouhood,
Cut-Me-Own-Throat Dibbler,
Doing harm by selling food.

He gives the kids free samples,
Because he knows full well;
Though they've seen his meat suppliers,
When they're dead, They'll never tell.

Though 'The Watch' are quite unable,
To tell how many he has killed,
Dibbler heads the merit table
Of Ankh-Morpork's Assassins Guild.

For those who may have found stirrings of their deeper psychoses, and might wish more of Mr. Lehrer, the book Too many Songs by Tom Lehrer: with not enough drawings by Ronald Searle, Pantheon Books, New York, 1981, ISBN0-394-74930-8 (pbk.) still appears sporadically at Barnes and Borders bookshops in my neighborhood - and probably in yours. (It's also available in hardcover edition - but surely noone is that sick?).

I understand that several of the Lehrer tunes are in the bunch being prepared for addition to the DigiTrad. Waiting (with baited breath?) to see how they come out.

John

I didn't notice this in the Tom Leher DT:- One for the kids!

From The Electric Company (to be sung Rapidly)

You're wearing your sqeaky shoes
And right there taking a snooze
Is a tiger, so how do you walk on by?
(loud whisper) Silently

You're a secret agent man
Who's after the secret plan
How do you act so they don't know you're a spy?
(acting suspiciously) Normaly

At an eating contest you boast
That you can eat the most
How you you down your fiftieth piece of pie?
(nauseated) Eagerly

On the lake your boat upset
And your clothes got soaking wet
How do you stand and wait for them to dry?
(shivering) D-d-d-d-d-d patiently

In the public library
You fall and hurt your knee
But the sign says QUIET PLEASE so how can you cry?
(crying) Quietly

As you walk along the street
A porcupine you meet
How do you shake his hand when he says "hi"
(warily) Carefully

(slow and sinister)
You enter a very dark room
And sitting there in the gloom
Is Dracula Now how do you say goodbye
Immediately (spoken) Bye bye
