Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Tom Lehrer; chords required From: Nigel Parsons Date: 13 Mar 02 - 05:08 AM Not being a guitarist, I haven't "worked these out". They're taken from a Tom Lehrer song book. C.........A7,,,,,,,,,,,,,,D7......G7 Hope this all makes sense. I've tried to match up chords to correct syllables for changes. ---Jeff (PA)---

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Tom Lehrer; chords required From: Nigel Parsons Date: 13 Mar 02 - 05:13 AM Apologies to all! the chord/words matched up when typed in the reply box. unfortunately the dots used to separate chords have squeezed up leaving chords over wrong syllables. I'm not sur how to get around this, but will try if anyone has suggestions. However, all chords are above the correct line of words, so someone may be able to understand it. |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Tom Lehrer; chords required From: alanabit Date: 13 Mar 02 - 05:57 AM You can't do "Masochsm Tango" with a three chord trick unless you leave out the "At Your Command..." section. There was a very good Tom Lehrer songbook. Maybe you will be able to find it. If all else fails and you do not get what you want within a couple of days, PM me at the weekend. Good luck. |
Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Tom Lehrer; chords required From: Nigel Parsons Date: 13 Mar 02 - 06:12 AM That seemed to work better, must remember to add line breaks when pasting from the DT MASOCHISM TANGO (Tom Lehrer) (spoken) Another familiar type of love song is the passionate or fiery variety, usually in tango tempo, in which the singer exhorts his partner to haunt him and taunt him and, if at all possible, to consume him with the kiss of fire. This particular illustration of this genre is called ``The Masochism Tango''.
I (Dm)ache for the touch of your (Gm)lips, dear,
Let our (Dm)love be a flame, not an (G7)ember,
At your com(Gm)mand before you here I (F)stand,
Your (Dm)heart is hard as stone or ma(Gm)hogany,
You caught my (Bb)--(Bb7)nose in your left casta(Eb)net, love,
Your (Dm)eyes cast a spell that be(Gm)witches.
Bash in my (Gm)brain, and (C7)make me scream with (F)pain,
Take (Dm)your cigarette from its (Gm)holder, |
Subject: Lyr/Chords Add: MASOCHISM TANGO (Tom Lehrer) From: cobber Date: 13 Mar 02 - 06:19 AM My Tom Lehrer book has the following for the Masochism Tango. I (Dm) ache for the touch of your (Gm) lips, dear, But much (C7) more for the touch of your whips, dear. (A7) You can raise welts Like (Dm) nobody else, As we (A7) dance to the Masochism (Dm) Tango. Let our (Dm) love be a flame, not an (Gm) ember. Say it's (C7) me that you want to dis- (F) member. (A7) Blacken my eye, set (Dm) fire to my (Gm) tie, As we (A7) dance to the Masochism (Dm) Tango. At your com- (Gm) mand be- (C7) fore you here I (F) stand. My (Dm) heart is in my (Gm) hand. (Spoken: Ecch!) It's (C#dim) here that I must (D) be. (D7) My heart en- (Gm) treats. Just (C7) hear those savage (F) beats, And (Dm) go put on your (Gm) cleats, And (c7) come and trample (F) me. (A7) Your (Dm) heart's hard as stone or ma- (Gm) hogany. That's why (C7) I'm in such exquisite (F) agony. My (A7) soul is on fire. It's a- (Dm) flame with de- (Gm) sire, Which is (A7) why I perspire when we (Dm) tango. You caught my (Bb) nose (Bb7) In your left casta- (Eb) net, love. I can feel the pain (A7) yet, love. Every time I hear (Dm) drums; And how I envy the (Bb) rose (Bb7) That you held in your (Eb) teeth, love, With the thorns under- (A7) neath, love, Sticking into your gums. Your (Dm) eyes cast a spell that be- (Gm) witches. The (C7) last time I needed twenty (F) stitches To (A7) sew up the gash You (Dm) made with your (Gm) lash As we (A7) danced to the masochism (Dm) tango. Bash in my (Gm) brain And (C7) make me scream with (F) pain. Then (Dm) kick me once a- (Gm) gain And (C#dim) say we'll never (D) part. (D7) I know too (Gm) well I'm un- (C7) derneath your (F) spell, So (Dm) darling if you (Gm) smell Something (C7) burning, it's my (F) heart. (Spoken: Excuse me.) Take (Dm) your cigarette from its (Gm) holder And (C7) burn your initials in my (F) shoulder. (A7) Fracture my spine And (Dm) swear that you're (Gm) mine As we (a7) dance to the Masochism (Dm) Tango. Good luck with that one. I love his work but I can't play it. Is he still around? |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Req: Tom Lehrer; chords required From: JohnInKansas Date: 13 Mar 02 - 04:02 PM For those who may have found stirrings of their deeper psychoses, and might wish more of Mr. Lehrer, the book Too many Songs by Tom Lehrer: with not enough drawings by Ronald Searle, Pantheon Books, New York, 1981, ISBN0-394-74930-8 (pbk.) still appears sporadically at Barnes and Borders bookshops in my neighborhood - and probably in yours. (It's also available in hardcover edition - but surely noone is that sick?). I understand that several of the Lehrer tunes are in the bunch being prepared for addition to the DigiTrad. Waiting (with baited breath?) to see how they come out. John |

Subject: Lyr Add: L-Y (Tom Leher) From: Emma B Date: 07 Jan 04 - 06:59 PM I didn't notice this in the Tom Leher DT:- One for the kids! From The Electric Company (to be sung Rapidly) You're wearing your sqeaky shoes And right there taking a snooze Is a tiger, so how do you walk on by? (loud whisper) Silently You're a secret agent man Who's after the secret plan How do you act so they don't know you're a spy? (acting suspiciously) Normaly At an eating contest you boast That you can eat the most How you you down your fiftieth piece of pie? (nauseated) Eagerly On the lake your boat upset And your clothes got soaking wet How do you stand and wait for them to dry? (shivering) D-d-d-d-d-d patiently In the public library You fall and hurt your knee But the sign says QUIET PLEASE so how can you cry? (crying) Quietly As you walk along the street A porcupine you meet How do you shake his hand when he says "hi" (warily) Carefully (slow and sinister) You enter a very dark room And sitting there in the gloom Is Dracula Now how do you say goodbye Immediately (spoken) Bye bye |
