Clearly there will be some among those gathered there who can give me proper guidance as to what liquids to consume. I will place my fate in the hands of the experts on the subject. I do prefer drinking things that are brown for some reason (I know not what or why.)

Stranger in a strange land...and all that sort of thing.

Yes but will that leave you enough energy to get to the gathering Mr Happy ;¬)))
Hope you get down for some or all of the weekend, Kit. As Noreen says it is very informal and any timetables will be very loose and basically we will all just be having a great time singing and playing music with the odd pint or two thrown down for good measure (personally I think the gallon is an excellent measure!)

Good News!!

I've been trying to establish if i can get time off work so as to attend Mrs D's Tyke's Extravvanganda in May.

Finally when I asked my boss about it this week, she said its ok with her if i have it off!- Yippee!

See you all in May.

Kit, just come along and say hello! It'll be very informal: camping space, food and drink available, and lots of friendly musicians and listeners of all varieties.

If weather is fine, outdoor space may be utilised for sessions/ chatting etc... There'll definitely be informal tune sessions and singarounds, possibly separate or overlapping, as the fancy takes people. A fair bit of tune and song-swapping usually happens too.

The Yorkshire Gathering will be a Good Thing, and you'll not be sorry you decided to meet these strange people...

If you become a member here (it's free) you can send me a personal message if there's other things you'd like to know.

Mrs Duck may well be along with a timetable of events, but possibly not until the end of term :0)

Not greedy at all Alan you can have all the landlord you can drink - just stating my preferences.
Actually Geoff doesn't like sharp beers either but I'm only telling you all this to bring the thread back to the top anyway!
Currently we don't know what's on their list anyway but will let you all know as soon as we do.

Now, now, Jane (Mrs Duck). Please don't be greedy about the beer. Abbott Ale is strong and sweet, Green King IPA is also sweetish and Old Speckled Hen would be another strong, sweet beer. So surely it would be alright for us other beer drinkers who prefer a quaffing ale with a bit of a bite to have Timothy Taylor's Landlord!

"Ale , ale, glorious ale ...!"

Ouzo? retsina? evil-smelling grog made by fermenting the spittle of ancient women chewing roots round a cauldron?

Alternatively how about Bombardier? Brakspears? Old Thumper (Hampshire's best)? Davy's Old Wallop? Ma Parlow's (Black Country)?
Or Courage (forget that, the above evil-smelling grog would be better)

Naah, Allan C/Mrs Duck, not Essex or Virginia, I am talking REAL South, as in "Southern Europe", the land of the Mediterranean pine, earthquakes, gold medallions on sun-bronzed chests, retsina (what a giveaway) and old ladies in black. The land of real men (you HAVE to be a real man, if you're wearing a pleated skirt and bobbles on your shoes). OK, so I'm a reject from that land, as I look nothing like any of the above; but I prefer to think of myself as a cultural ambassador...

As for Yorkshire pud - isn't that the frozen stuff you get at Tescos? Nice fingerbowls, but they get soggy after a while. But I shouldn't tease - I am ready and very willing to be taught the comparative benefits of northern fare, adding to my heretofore patchy knowledge.

Joking aside - really looking forward to it!
