It's warmer down 'ere, you know, in the soft south.

Oaklet is at this very moment delivering my aerophone to an electrician in Birmingham, so cannot be here to opine. I am having talent substitute fitted. Delighted to hear that our lovely Letty is going to make it over from Cork.

The wheels are square after Doncaster, Fibs, following the Hengist Pod model. If you can get to Hull central, I'll order a curry from Mustafa's, and you can hitch a ride with jOhn.

Hi Skipjack,

I have checked the timetables of the German and British Railways and am considering the big adventure of 17 hours train travel from my home to Barrow Haven Station, with a lively study of London Underground.
But as an alternative I'll check the amenities of Ryanair and such at the weekend. (Ferry from Rotterdam is too expensive for this man.)
I'm planning my arrival for Friday, and have booked my floor place long ago, remember? But two robust hooks 3 yards distant for my hammock can do, too.

Wilfried

Feckin' Virgin Trains!! I've just spent over half an hour trying to find tickets from Bristol to Doncaster (they'd like to charge me about 100 quid for this privilge, despite the fact that they offer a 14 day advance price of 14 quid each way). Their phone line is one of those automated ones that you have to speak to - arrrgh!

Anyway, I'm going to try and bum a life to Sheffield and get a train from there. I think my mates should be going climbing that weekend (oh, the sacrifices I make for Mudcat!) so that gets me as far as Stanage Edge at least.

Dear Dave,

What are your approximate intended times for travelling? It could possibly open up some other, less costly means of me getting to the Gathering if you have the space, either joining you in London or Stanstead (would that be out of your way?).

Very best regards,

The blue click link set up by Wilfried says there is a £57 charge for this gathering, does this mean meals, camp fees etc are included? This would save me having to bring a shed load of stuff up north.

We'll be driving right past Stansted airport on the M11 Richard - at the moment, however, we don't know exactly when. We are expecting to do most of the driving on the Friday, but have wondered about driving up to a caravan site near Huntingdon on the Thursday night and staying over there so that we're the other side of the London rush hour on Friday morning and right near the A1. When were you thinking of coming over ?

There is NO CHARGE for this event(apart from your own accommodation, food and drink arrangements)- the £57 is a spurious extrapolation by some roguish type/troublemaker- not you I trust, GUEST bong? (Are you a friend of Michael Miles?)

Thank you Noreen for your post. But if you go up the page a bit to Wilfireids post and click on the link, it takes you to a SkipjackK8 Post that DEFINITELY asks for £57 workshop fees. I will take your word for it being wrong. Thanks but confused.

S'okay bong, that fee definitely doesn't refer to the Eurogathering, but to some other wheeze altogether. If Skippy tries to charge us such fees we shall drown him in a vat of his own dripping. Keep a tight hold of your £57 and use it to place a bet on Oakley's Superwhelk to win the grease wrestling contest.

(Skip, can I be contentious here and say I *like* the workshop idea? And can I say it with authority since I'm the type of beginner that might benefit from it?)

The post of Skipjack's that Wilfried linked to is intended to be read:
a) intelligently
b) with tongue in cheek
c) with a pinch of salt
d) in Stourport on Severn in the snow
e) all of the above

Alternatively we should forewarn the NHS of the anticipated increase in demand on the bank holiday Monday for organ transplants.

Sorry I thought the £57 was the price being charged by the Barrow on Humber sandwich shop to feed every one for the weeeknd.

And as for you, you two timing key pumping pimp, you told me it was over between you and Oaklet-now you are refering to him as a sex god! So much for our "stick insect" club. Was it him you were calling out to in your sleep at Portaferry? "Ah, my little botle of virgin oil". I heard you, you didn't think I did, but I heard you mumbling into your pillow, you, you GREASE BALL.

I'll either catch up with you before the gathering and get my sleeping bag then or can you to bring it on the Friday?

Fibs: If you can get to Leeds -it's only a short train ride from Sheffield then we can probably give you a lift over to the gathering. My housemate's driving so it depends on her but I'm sure that'll be fine
