I got the DVD for my birthday and what I have seen of it, he performs very well.

I too haven't seen him perform apart from a video I have of him.

As far as the records, I stopped after Buddah and the Chocolate Box.

The biography of him (which goes for strange amounts of money on ebay) is also quite enlightening.

Cat Stevens is great, i listen to him a lot, only got the best of album though. Moonshadow is greeat, wild world great, in fact all songs on that best of are great.

Yeh Ellenpoly, although Cat Stevens is now a good muslim he still draws his ' royalties, ' he may well support muslim schools but he also supported the fatwah to kill Salman Rushdie, a law abiding British citizen. So all you who carried on buying his records have the satisfaction of knowing you were also supporting a fatwah.
He ought to fuck off and live in a muslim country if he likes it that much.

I still have Cat Stevens LPs in great condition and play them when I have time. On Gainsborough Festival Day...in the evening...at The Old Hall...we had a rendition of "Can't keep it in" from a local singer...not as good as Cat Stevens but nice to hear someone who is prepared to keep his music alive. May consider doing some myself at some point.
Prayer is something I offer when I feel the need. Daily and sometimes several times a day. Great to have prayers answered!

There was a recent documentary about him in the UK a few months back. It followed his career and was just brilliant.

I loved him, had all his records, and despaired when he quit and became a Muslim.

But he has recently decided to get back into music, albeit from a more Islamic viewpoint. I think he has at least one, and maybe two CDs out by now...but you'll have to look for it under Yussif Islam I imagine, and not Cat Stevens, but I might be wrong about that. The money he makes goes in support of the Islamic schools he has helped organize.

PS-Yes, Muslims do pray 5 times a day, and devout Jews pray three times a day, and devout Christians pray daily, and some of us pray whenever we like!

I bought all his albums up to and including "Numbers" which was pretty naff. Still love the previous ones and still play them.I understand he has a DVD out of his last American tour, and as I have NEVER seen any footage of him I would love to buy it, unfortunately I don't have a DVD player! Oh bugger!

Cat Stevens is now Youssef Islam.
The Jewish Sabbath is from sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday.
A devout catholic can attend mass twice a day or more, for 7 days a week.
I think that Moslems are supposed to pray 5 times a day, but I'm not 100% certain.
We have the Free Church of Scotland known as The Wee Frees, which believes in total observation of the sabbath, and does not use musical instruments in the church. They use a system like the Jewish cantor, where someone leads off the hymn, and the rest join in. Gaelic hymn singing is an amazing thing to hear, and I recommend it to all folkies as being well worth the listen.

christian people can go to chirch any day they like - Sunday is just the day most people go - my mother goes about 5 times a week to various services

Cat Stevens or whateve his name is now still sings I believe but moslems do not like accompanied singing and are more into acoustic music such as drums

Hello, Cat Stevens is one of my favourite singers, waht do you think about that?

he used to be really good, but he went a bit odd, and decided to be a muslim, and he stopped singing then.


[my boss is a muslim, they go to church on Fridays, instead of sundays, like christian people],
i think jewish people go on Fridays as well, not sure really.
