Subject: Lyr Req: Like Unto a Mockingbird From: Mrrzy Date: 24 Apr 06 - 05:47 PM Couldn't find this on the Internet, to my great shock, nor was it in the trad or the forum... I am amazed, and humbly await your habitual swift response. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Like Unto a Mockingbird From: Jim Dixon Date: 24 Apr 06 - 06:31 PM John Hartford wrote and recorded LIKE UNTO A MOCKINGBIRD. It's on 3 of his albums: "Gentle on My Mind," RCA Victor LSP-4068, 1968; "Iron Mountain Depot," RCA Victor LSP-4337, 1970; and "Natural To Be Gone 1967-1970," Raven 138, 2002. I think the last one is the only one currently in print. |

Subject: Lyr Add: LIKE UNTO A MOCKINGBIRD (John Hartford) From: harpgirl Date: 28 Apr 06 - 02:57 PM LIKE UNTO A MOCKINGBIRD John Hartford All around somebody else's pad, You stumble as you chase the latest fad. Don't look confused with all the things you find. Just wait until the crowd makes up your mind. CHORUS: Coming back repeating every word, Repeating all the things you overheard, The bandwagons rumble past. I sit here on the curb, And like an echo, you are like unto a mockingbird. As long as you can sing their style of song, You won't be lonely; you can tag along, Pasted on your face a sickly grin, Hoping that someone will say you're in. Dark eyes shifting round take in a lot, Noting who is here and then who's not. Careful that you keep your standing clear Away from those with whom you can't be seen. Here lately you don't speak or even look Because my name's not written in their book, But if they turn my different ways to see, You'd be the first to proudly stand by me. CHORUS |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Like Unto a Mockingbird (John Hartford) From: bluerabbit10 Date: 02 Jan 09 - 08:53 AM Thank you Harp Girl! I am looking for words/lyrics to Morning Bugle the song. Any info? Thanks so much. Verne |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Like Unto a Mockingbird (John Hartford) From: Jim Dixon Date: 03 Jan 09 - 01:02 PM Bluerabbit10: I figure it's not a good idea to post the lyrics to MORNING BUGLE in this thread since no one will think of looking for them here, since the title of the thread is "Like unto a Mockingbird." So I posted the lyrics in the thread called REQ/ADD: John Hartford songs (click). |
