Hi all,
I've been trying to find a song from an old Martyn Wyndham-Read album, called "Somewhere In Otago"...i heard a guy singing it at a trad session some years ago, and he gave it some,...lovely!

Does anyone know the album/availability, if any, or of anyone else who recorded it?
I tried Fellside Records to see if they knew any more.

its written by graeme miles ,ex teeside fettler,still living in that area,try contacting the organiser of the darlington brittannia folk club,or folk roundabout the folk magazine for that area , they might be able to put you in touch with graeme miles.

Rod Sinclair does a lovely version of Otago on his album Breaks & Bonds. If you can't find the version you're looking for, you might consider contacting Millstream Records in Tønder, Denmark and get a copy of his CD.

I think Martyn recorded it on "Mussels on a Tree" CD

I should have checked better.. Otago isn't on "Mussels on a Tree", but it *is* to be found on an older (LP) recording by Martyn, "A Rose From the Bush".

I'd like to get that recording on CD, so I asked Martyn some time last year if it would become available as CD at some stage. Unfortunately, he said that there weren't any plans for that. Don't know if it's possible to make him change his mind, though, might be worth a try contacting him.. :-)

Superb song....one of the 1st things I ever heard Martyn sing, & I'm a big fan of everything he's ever done, & of the songs of Graeme Miles too.
