Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: CapriUni Date: 15 Oct 06 - 12:34 PM (Oh dear) It's been nearly an entire week, And I've not said a word Perhaps my Santy thinks me cold, For she (he?) has not heard; So Santy dear, worry not (Just in case you might) -- I just got pointed to this thread Sometime late last night. But, now, the worry, it is mine, For when I read your rhyming lines: I wonder why I'd see your name Within the Santa News. Could my Santa have tasted fame, If the media holds clues? Could my Naughty 'Nicholas' be a thief? Or worse -- a politician? So Santa, Dear, please answer me, And ease my consternation. |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: GUEST,My Guru's All-Laden Sled's Scout-Elf Date: 15 Oct 06 - 12:49 PM My Dear "My" or "Goo", or whatever you go by for short (as being an elf, everything must be captioned for short), What kinda Guru IS this fella? More like a "Kan", a "Loup" or some other type? But anyway, by way of introduction, I'm Elfish Pressently-your designated Scout-Elf for this year. I will be hiding where you least expect gathering up information for The Boss, who has deemed this a top-shelf high priority assignment, so high, in fact that I hope I'll encounter no difficulties inreaching it. So I'll be.... ....Oh excuse me! I was momentarily distracted by the sight of the lovely Meemyse Elf, s'elf centered but drop-dead gorgeous Scout-Elf on another assignment in the area who doesn't seem to know I exist. If I could only figure a way to catch Meemyse's elfin eye! She's something Elf entirely! Long blond hair and legs that seem to go on for.... (Sigh!) ....But I shouldn't be looking at other women, as I am assigned to concentrate on only you. So anyway, I'll be questioning you from time to time on your wants and needs, and that's the short and short of it! So watch this space! Santa's Height-Challenged Helper, Elvish Pressently |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: Severn Date: 15 Oct 06 - 02:10 PM Dear Shy and Secretive Santa, I left a note for McGhee & Hash, my two House Brownies to be on the look out for your elves. I see less of the two of them these days since I've gotten a cat, but I know they're still there, because I leave shotglasses full of whiskey with straws in them from time to time which tends to make them sing. That way, I know they're still alright. Maybe I should set out an extra shot glass or two. How many elves are you sending to do the job? Send two and they can start getting intofour-part Persuasions, Watersons, Golden Gate Quartet, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver type songs, but spare me the "Peg Of My Heart-Sweet Adeline" stuff. Bring 'em on, Santa!!!!! |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: GUEST,Snuffy's head-scratching Santa stand-in Date: 15 Oct 06 - 05:00 PM Golly Goobers! What's with all the rhyimg going on around here? You'd think all these Mudcatters were simultaneously possessed with the ghost of Clement Clarke Moore, or something. Anyway, Snuffy, here are my clues: Our paths have never crossed in real life, and looking back over past Mudcat threads, it looks like they've crossed rarely, if at all, in this forum (I've only done a quick lookover of the Mudcat threads you've posted to, though, so I may be mistaken). So, this year, at least, Liz the Squeak is playing at matchmaker between us. She assures me that you've been good, and of good spirits, this year, so one thing I won't be giving you is a lump of coal (though what you do get may be smudged with coal dust -- I make no promises of purity). |

By the way, was it you who posted simply as GUEST, without saying whose SS you were? Or was that something the Hogboon did, to throw me off the trail? You've got to watch them like a hawk, you know... |

Does a desktop composition thingy, or Barry Manilow's "Greatest Songs of the Fifties" strike your fancy? Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: Helen Date: 16 Oct 06 - 05:39 PM Well, HISSS, what all that array of musical things told me is that it's not the dollars that matter. I appreciate the thought that goes into the gift and I would be acutely embarrassed if you thought you had to spend a lot of money on it. My house is full of quirky things that other people might view as trash, but things which appeal to my love of the out-of-the-ordinary or creative things or clever inventions. In that list, I'm afraid the only things that tickled my Gemini fancy - and I am DEFINITELY saying that you are NOT to buy any of it, I'm only telling you that I love quirky, weird things and odd instruments like thumb pianos and panpipes, and cigar box hurdy gurdies and I especially love hand made things - were the strange and interesting desktop composition thingy and the percussion tubes and the roll up piano. Wow! And Barry Manilow? Lucky this is a family forum or I'd tell you what I really think of BM! :-) I think that that list was a present in itself. It was like finding a virtual treasure box in the attic, all jumbled up with a bunch of things that a group of different people find valuable and that they couldn't bear to throw away. Thanks for the adventure! I have saved the page so that I can go through the treasure box again. Thanks, Helen |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: My guru always said Date: 16 Oct 06 - 06:10 PM Oooooohhh, I got me a Scout-Elf!!!! Profuse apologies for the delay but I've in fact been away on a fact-finding mission of my own, where in fact, I found no facts at all. What a tricky trial Christmas can be! But not for you, my wonderful Scout-Elf, you will by now have Christmas all sewn up. As for my own wants and needs, I confess to having none, except an insatiable curiousity about my own Dear Santa and a desire for broadening my musical horizons by hearing of other Catters *grin* Oh, any by the way, my guru is one who always said No, which would have been a source of sadness in the original era, but now would be considered quite acceptable and proper. |
