I left a note for McGhee & Hash, my two House Brownies to be on the look out for your elves. I see less of the two of them these days since I've gotten a cat, but I know they're still there, because I leave shotglasses full of whiskey with straws in them from time to time which tends to make them sing. That way, I know they're still alright. Maybe I should set out an extra shot glass or two. How many elves are you sending to do the job? Our paths have never crossed in real life, and looking back over past Mudcat threads, it looks like they've crossed rarely, if at all, in this forum (I've only done a quick lookover of the Mudcat threads you've posted to, though, so I may be mistaken). So, this year, at least, Liz the Squeak is playing at matchmaker between us.

She assures me that you've been good, and of good spirits, this year, so one thing I won't be giving you is a lump of coal (though what you do get may be smudged with coal dust -- I make no promises of purity).

Well, HISSS, what all that array of musical things told me is that it's not the dollars that matter. I appreciate the thought that goes into the gift and I would be acutely embarrassed if you thought you had to spend a lot of money on it. My house is full of quirky things that other people might view as trash, but things which appeal to my love of the out-of-the-ordinary or creative things or clever inventions.

In that list, I'm afraid the only things that tickled my Gemini fancy - and I am DEFINITELY saying that you are NOT to buy any of it, I'm only telling you that I love quirky, weird things and odd instruments like thumb pianos and panpipes, and cigar box hurdy gurdies and I especially love hand made things - were the strange and interesting desktop composition thingy and the percussion tubes and the roll up piano. Wow! And Barry Manilow? Lucky this is a family forum or I'd tell you what I really think of BM! :-)

I think that that list was a present in itself. It was like finding a virtual treasure box in the attic, all jumbled up with a bunch of things that a group of different people find valuable and that they couldn't bear to throw away. Thanks for the adventure! I have saved the page so that I can go through the treasure box again.

Profuse apologies for the delay but I've in fact been away on a fact-finding mission of my own, where in fact, I found no facts at all. What a tricky trial Christmas can be! But not for you, my wonderful Scout-Elf, you will by now have Christmas all sewn up.

As for my own wants and needs, I confess to having none, except an insatiable curiousity about my own Dear Santa and a desire for broadening my musical horizons by hearing of other Catters *grin*

Oh, any by the way, my guru is one who always said No, which would have been a source of sadness in the original era, but now would be considered quite acceptable and proper.
