Subject: RE: Barton, Beds, Bull November things 06 From: The PA Date: 07 Nov 06 - 04:22 AM Mornin Ross, despite all the warnings, have you ever met anyone who's arm has been broken by a swan, ........... and everytime you go mooching around in an overgrown garden it is guaranteed you will find a bouncy ball? Thats todays useless information. |
|
Subject: RE: Barton, Beds, Bull November things 06 From: Ross Date: 07 Nov 06 - 07:54 AM Arternoon PA Wise words indeed - those townies don't know what us country folk have to put up with I've learnt Kung Fu to thwart those Swans - fowl play version I always say 'take me to your Leda' (she's always depicted as being quite dishy like) - but they never do The swans swarm on top of the bus shelter on the path to the fish & chip shop - they are codless creatures Most people think I'm full of balls What shall we do this afternoon Mummy? King Harry session in St Albans tonight run by Jenny & Alan |

Subject: RE: Barton, Beds, Bull November things 06 From: The PA Date: 07 Nov 06 - 08:18 AM Eh up there chuck, I'm not yer mummy but we could go to the pub, I can find it now that the fog has lifted! Couldn't see a thing yesterday. Now, isn't it a fact that triangular sandwiches taste better than square ones and at the end of every party there is always a girl crying. Your sense of humor is only slightly worse than mine. |

Subject: RE: Barton, Beds, Bull November things 06 From: The PA Date: 07 Nov 06 - 10:57 AM Nasty cast of road rage on me 'oss, should that be horse rage. Two young men in tarted up Mini's with no exhaust thought it would be a good idea to race up behind us revvin their engines and spinning their tyres and blowin their horns. Red took exception and freaked, pulled the reins out of my hands and my shoulder (the one I had repaired last year) took the strain - or not. |

Subject: RE: Barton, Beds, Bull November things 06 From: The PA Date: 08 Nov 06 - 11:07 AM Shhh they're all asleep, or doing what they're paid to do. Did you know ................ The most painful household incident is wearing socks and stepping on an upturned plug. Its impossible to look cool whilst picking up a Frisbee. And last but not least, there's no panic like the panic you momentarily feel when you've got your hand or head stuck in something. |

Subject: RE: Barton, Beds, Bull November things 06 From: Ross Date: 09 Nov 06 - 04:01 AM Cheers PA - wisdom is precious Many thanks to all who trod the boards last night Cathy, MK John, Hitchin John, Guy, Tim & his Dad, Jeff, Keith & Teresa Some nice music despite the underpopulation Catching ones willy in a zip causes panic Now go back to sleep I'm finished for the day - I'm off down the guitar shop to buy me some strings Then I'm going to cut down a tree |
|
Subject: RE: Barton, Beds, Bull November things 06 From: Scrump Date: 09 Nov 06 - 04:04 AM Ross - when you've bought your guitar strings you don't need to cut down a tree, you can buy the wood to make your guitar, from a timber merchant. :-) (Martin Carthy was bl**dy good last night too!) |
|
Subject: RE: Barton, Beds, Bull November things 06 From: Ross Date: 09 Nov 06 - 04:09 AM Now you tell me I bet Martin Carthy can't play the Wild Rover I bet it was packed |
|
Subject: RE: Barton, Beds, Bull November things 06 From: Scrump Date: 09 Nov 06 - 06:03 AM Well it was pretty busy, but not as packed as it has been once or twice in the past. Strangely, there was a whole row of 5 or 6 chairs empty until the interval. No idea what was wrong with them, they looked OK to me. I didn't request the Wild Rover so I've no idea if he can play it or not (?). It would probably sound odd in that strange tuning of his, anyway. |

Subject: RE: Barton, Beds, Bull November things 06 From: Cathie Date: 20 Nov 06 - 03:24 PM I missed going to Ashwell today. I popped over to the Winterfolk there a couple of times this weekend. (Popped is probably wishful thinking for the first visit, via Biggleswade, forgetting route). I learnt about song-writing from George P, met Hilary for the first time and got some sound advice from Martin on my accordian playing and how to avoid backache. I heard lots of traditional songs and recognised few. But sang along anyway - it was that kind of a do. Meanwhile my son's friend's mother was busy making him a cake for his 18th birthday! I offered to write him a song, but he wasn't too keen. No guilty working guitar-learning mother-syndrome for me. |
