Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: Bill D Date: 30 May 05 - 07:11 PM what next? Practice songs!... (not much to do till Aug-Sept..but it depends on when Charlie & Carly get various registration and workshop plans working..) When this was 95% local, we barely thought about it till summer. This international flight booking, ride arranging and lead time planning has our little brains all a-twizzle (technical term - means stonkered and bamfuzzled)..... But it's gonna be fun. |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: Ebbie Date: 29 May 05 - 09:59 PM Rita, where is the FSGW festival held? At Camp Ramblewood? How many of you will be in attendance? There are times I rather envy you East Coasters your denser populations. In July the Alaska "State" Fair will be put on in Haines, Alaska. (It's called a State fair, but it's not even as big as most county fairs 'down south'). Steve Earle will be one of the headliners. |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: Ferrara Date: 29 May 05 - 08:22 PM "Real soon now" we're going to start an edited thread with the Getaway 2005 registration information and stuff like that so information will be easy to find. The Getaway committee are all up to our ears in work for the Folklore Society of Greater Washington's (FSGW's) Washington Folk Festival (June 4 & 5) right now. Carly & Charlie are threatening to start work on the Getaway on the 6th (hahahahahaha as Mick says) which means it will not be TOO long now. As for me I plan to collapse and do as little as possible for the entire week of June 5 and I suspect I'm not the only one, so don't grumble too much please if we're a week or 2 later than that getting started. Rita |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: Bill D Date: 25 May 05 - 11:48 AM Joe Offer is almost always to be found lurking around the Getaway...'ya never know where he'll turn up. (We threaten miscreants that he'll 'delete' them if they don't behave.... ;>))....the miscreants justlaugh) |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: Big Mick Date: 25 May 05 - 09:43 AM mooman, git yer behind over here. You are one of the 'Catters I have always wanted to meet. This is shaping up to be the "can't miss" Getaway. Many 'Catters from the old side of the pond are headin' in and it should be a wonderful gathering. If enough of you make the trip, I will make a trip over there (he says tongue planted firmly in cheek, as if he had to be convinced to go to Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, and Belgium....hahhaahahaha). This one is going to be the best yet. I can't wait. Mick |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: Fortunato Date: 25 May 05 - 09:07 AM www.fsgw.org, mooman. Folklore Society of Greater Washington puts on the Getaway in Camp Ramblewood in Darlington, MD. You fly into BWI airport in Baltimore and drive north for an hour or so. If you review the many threads you'll see lots of folks will be driving near and rides are possible. I don't get into the mudcat much anymore so I won't be much help. just happened by. cheers, chance |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: mooman Date: 25 May 05 - 08:54 AM I'm half-thinking of coming across the pond from Belgium to this year's Getaway as well. Where is the venue, what is the approximate agenda and what are the accomodation arrangements? (Sorry if this has been explained earlier but the thread has now become very long...). Many thanks and peace, moo |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: jacqui.c Date: 15 Apr 05 - 06:25 PM Mmario - you KNOW that you're not supposed to KEEP the brain cell, it's needed by a certain Republican! Kendall knows that it is not in his best interests to start a resistance movement. He could end up not being able to move at all. |
