Subject: Catspaw: The relapse From: bseed(charleskratz) Date: 12 May 99 - 09:40 PM I just checked the Catspaw Recovery III thread and the news is not good: Karen and Mick both told of a very scary relapse--Paw is back in intensive care, getting blood, being checked for GI bleeding. Prayers, thoughts, songs, blood all needed. --seed |
Subject: RE: Catspaw: The relapse From: bbc Date: 12 May 99 - 09:52 PM Dear Pat & Karen, Please know that our prayers for peace of mind and healing are with you. Subject: RE: Catspaw: The relapse From: katlaughing Date: 12 May 99 - 11:45 PM Okay, while I don't claim to be any religion, except irreverent, I have to post this here. The first one was written for an astronaut and carried to the moon and back. It is from a metaphysical church called Unity. They are the ones who publish The Daily Word, which is a little booklet with a daily positive message and Bible verse in it. They also have a telephone prayer service called Silent Unity. They are located near Lee's Summit, MO. Please know, I do not mean to offend anyone. I do not consider myself to be Christian, but I have used these and they are a comfort. Love, katlaughing
Prayer for Protection
The light of God surrounds me; And:
The Prayer of Faith
God is my help in every need;
I now am wise, I now am true,
God is my health, I can't be sick; |
Subject: RE: Catspaw: The relapse From: Spaw's Maw-in-Law Date: 12 May 99 - 11:52 PM Kat, how could anyone be offended? Thankyou. My prayer today has simply been, "please, God, Please help them. I can't seem to go much further than that. You have given us better words.......Clarence |
Subject: RE: Catspaw: The relapse From: katlaughing Date: 12 May 99 - 11:57 PM Thanks, Maw-in-Law. You are all so brave and enduring. I hope I can do as well if ever in a similar situation. Blessed Be, Katl |
Subject: RE: Catspaw: The relapse From: Banjer Date: 12 May 99 - 11:59 PM Very nice Kat. I do consider myself a Christian, but not one who goes to church on a regular basis. In fcat I can't remember when last I was! I commune with the higher power of my perception in my own ways. I ask the Lord to take care of our friend, to guide his caretakers in their work so that Catspaw will soon be amongst us again. My family's hopes and thought go out to his family and again I say to Karen, if anything is needed, ask, and somehow the Mudcat will add its feeble efforts to the cause, I'm sure. |
Subject: RE: Catspaw: The relapse From: Night Owl Date: 13 May 99 - 12:08 AM Such a strong visualization I have after reading the latest news. Of a family of Mudcatters encircling Catspaw and family, and emanating as much of their collective light, strength, prayers and energy as is HUMANLY possible. ....Kat....Thank you for the words! and Karen ...hold on to us TIGHT if you need...!! I do feel this place called the Mudcat Cafe is a VERY STRONG spiritual force. |
Subject: RE: Catspaw: The relapse From: Sandy Paton Date: 13 May 99 - 12:10 AM You know we're all still with you in spirit, hoping, praying, each is his/her own way, for Pat's recovery. As Banjer has said, if there is anything we can do to help, please let us know. Don't hesitate to ask! Sandy |
Subject: RE: Catspaw: The relapse From: katlaughing Date: 13 May 99 - 12:12 AM There's also a song we sing in Unity, simple words, easy to remember, esp. in times of stress:
I am walking in the Light
In the Light, in the Light

Subject: RE: Catspaw: The relapse From: SingsIrish Songs Date: 13 May 99 - 03:50 AM I am very choked up after reading about the relapse (thanks for the direct link Shambles)... Pat, Karen and the entire family, you are still in my prayers and thoughts... As my brother-in-law said as he unknowingly was battling cancer, "God won't give me anything I can't handle." And so it is with all of us. Mary |

'Spaw, you are back on my prayer network full-time (I had downgraded you to part-time, my mistake). I miss Catspaw even more when I know he's not doing well. Hang in there, buddy! Katlaughing, thank you so much for the beautiful prayers. The Silent Unity prayer group you mentioned can be reached at 1-800-669-0282. You do not have to be a member to request prayer. I am not a member but have used it many times.
Much love and blessings to all, especially those who have kept us informed.

Subject: RE: Catspaw: The relapse From: LEJ Date: 13 May 99 - 11:53 AM Catspaw told us a story about sitting at a beautiful place in the Great Smoky Mountains, watching the stars come out as he played music with some good friends of his. He said there was a Bob Dylan song that takes him back to that place of serenity, the one that says "a thousand dollars at the drop of a hat...I'd give it all gladly, if our lives could be like that." Does anyone know the title of this song? |
Subject: RE: Catspaw: The relapse From: bseed(charleskratz) Date: 13 May 99 - 11:54 AM About as close to religion as I ever come is belief in Preacher Casey's "one big soul," of which we all are part--with me it's the life force, and I believe that it is possible to tap into it, even to direct it to an extent--and I think with enough of us directing our love/thoughts/prayers/healing energies toward Pat we have a chance at a miracle (I hope that Paw only needs--and is getting--skilled medical/surgical intervention, but if a miracle is needed maybe we are working toward one). Karen, we're hoping the love in this community helps get Pat and you and the boys and the rest of the family through this crisis. --seed |

BSeed, your beliefs sound pretty much like mine. I'm convinced belief can work miracles.
I wonder if anyone has ever put together and published a "Folk Songs of Hope and

Subject: RE: Catspaw: The relapse From: katlaughing Date: 13 May 99 - 01:36 PM Some doctors have their patients visualize themselves back home, after surgery, or whatever fully recovered and doing the activities they love to do; for some it may be gardening, others making music. So they bring the future to the Present. Let's all see 'Spaw doing that, like the story he told Leej and combine it with what Seed said. I KNOW these things work! And, knowing 'Spaw like we do, it's not hard to imagine him sitting on a front porch, talking easy and making music, in the here and now, surrounded by his family and friends, healthy and whole. Whole lotta love to you, 'Spaw. katlaughing |

Subject: RE: Catspaw: The relapse From: Spaw's Maw-in-Law Date: 13 May 99 - 08:35 PM Diverticulitis. That's what is the matter with 'spaw!!! Karen is beat. Pat is feeling better and they say that this can be fixed and they are keeping him over the weekend just to keep an eye on things. All other signs seem good. That light that you have surrounded 'spaw with seems to be doing the job. Keep up the good work. Thanks from all of us to all of you. |

Subject: RE: Catspaw: The relapse From: Banjer Date: 13 May 99 - 09:50 PM Ooooooohhh! I have(had) diverticulitis also, about 20 years ago. I was 30 years old and the doctors told me at that age I shouldn't have it! But by gum, they can't discriminate against me becaus eof age, if I want it,I can have it! Not a pleasant thing to have. I can sympathize with the 'Spaw on this one based on personal experience! I think what really occured is that he got so used to being waited on, hand and foot, that he just contrived an excuse to go back there. C'mon 'Spaw, fess up... What we need to do is contact Paw 'n Cletus and the boys, (and folks, ya gotta visualize this with me), dress them up as nurses and they'll have him ready to go home in no time! When Paw goes into the room with that syringe with the foot long, quarter inch thick needle and proceeds to show 'Spaw what all he learned about proctology, he'll be ready to git his duds and skeeddadlle right on outta there, I betcha.....Hell, he'll be ready to skeeddadle, without his duds, that hospital just flapping in the breeze....'scuze me, I gotta take me a giggle break.... |
Subject: RE: Catspaw: The relapse From: Banjer Date: 13 May 99 - 09:55 PM That was supposed to be the hospital GOWN just a'flappin' in the breeze, but ifn' he gits outta there fast enough he might just start the hospital to flappin' as well!! BTW, Spaw-Maw-in-Law, thanks for settin' our minds more at ease... |
