Subject: Donate Blood for catspaw? From: bbc Date: 15 May 99 - 10:44 PM I just received an email reply from Connie, as to whether & how we could donate blood & have it benefit catspaw. As some of you know, he has gone through at least 12 units as of this pm & expects to face surgery in the morning. This is pasted from Connie's note: "As far as donating blood, folks need to go to the nearest Red Cross donor site and donate for Patrick Patterson, Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, Ohio. The folks at Red Cross will know how to take care of it." I'm sure that any donations will be appreciated. Donations of money are welcome, too. Karen's income is at risk if she doesn't go back to work on Monday. They also have high phone bills & other expenses. Her mom will accept donations & forward them to her. The address is: Pat Wyatt PMB D279 2221 Peachtree Road NE Atlanta, GA 30309-1106 USA Checks payable to Karen Patterson To send notes/cards to catspaw at the hospital: ICU Fairfield Medical Center 401 N. Ewing Street Lancaster, OH 43036 For those who pray, please do! The doctors have still not found the source of bleeding & the proposed surgery is not without risk. best to all, bbc |

Subject: RE: Donate Blood for catspaw? From: Banjer Date: 16 May 99 - 08:22 AM I look kinda silly in my little cheerleader skirt with my pom-poms and megaphone, but BBC is "spot on!" We need to helpn Karen and the boys through this period in their lives. Pat (Catspaw) and Karen have done so much for others with their work in foster parenting, (all four of the boys, I believe are foster children) and in the field of Childrens Advocacy. It is time they were able to reap some of what they have sown. So let's all pull together "Team' and help them out in whatever way we can! Unfortunately the only cheer I know that I can lead ya'll in is this one: (It's the thought that counts!!!) |

Our support, however we see fit to give it is truly needed. Here's all the info together. See what your heart may prompt you to do for a brother & his family. I am proud to be a part of this loving group! bbc |

Subject: RE: Donate Blood for catspaw? From: Mo Date: 17 May 99 - 07:05 PM Unfortunately the Mudcatter's who reside on the east side of the pond can't participate in the blood giving - we have a different system here. But I think you know we would if we could. Are UK cheques in pounds sterling valid in USA, if not - any suggestions? Most importantly, anyone heard any news of how he's doing yet? Mo |
Subject: RE: Donate Blood for catspaw? From: Banjer Date: 17 May 99 - 07:13 PM Mo poses an interesting question. Can checks written on foreign banks be easily converted to US funds? It would seem that they could. Does anyone have any knowledge on that subject? Please advise so that our foreign friends that wish to help out may do so. |
Subject: RE: Donate Blood for catspaw? From: Liam's Brother Date: 17 May 99 - 07:35 PM US$ travelers checks (cheques) would be the easiest way to handle the transaction. Go to your UK bank and inquire (enquire) whether they are available. American Express in the UK and (possibly) Thomas Cook would have them also though I appreciate that not everyone lives close to such an outlet.

Subject: RE: Donate Blood for catspaw? From: Jeri Date: 17 May 99 - 08:33 PM I know we in the US can get international money orders at banks. Maybe in the UK too?

Subject: RE: Donate Blood for catspaw? From: Barbara Date: 17 May 99 - 09:12 PM Someone in Canada recently send me money (in the States) by using a postal money order. My bank converted it to US funds in cashing it (and 1/3 of it went away). Think that works for UK too. Will do the blood thing ASAP. Blessings , Barbara |
Subject: RE: Donate Blood for catspaw? From: murray@mpce.mq.edu.au Date: 18 May 99 - 06:18 AM You can get a draught drawn on a US bank in US dollars. Your bank should be able to supply on in the UK. I used to send money to the US that way when I lived in England. I don't know if things have changed, but it used to be very expensive to negotiate a foreign check in the US, so it is better to send things in US dollars. Murray |
Subject: RE: Donate Blood for catspaw? From: hank Date: 18 May 99 - 10:18 AM I can't donate Blood for catspaw, as just a week before his problems started I was in the bus doing my donation. I make donating blood a habbit, something I do every time I can do it, but it means I'm not elligable for a few weeks yet. I hate donating blood, but it is the right thing to do, and so I do it. So please people, don't think of it as donating blood for catspaw, even though he clearly needs it, and if my blood happens to be amount the pints he has received I'm happy to let him have it. Think of it has something for humanity, something for life. Something to do at least once a year, and if you can do so four or more times a year. |
