Just received the following from Connie. Looks as though today will be the day for him to finally be released. We will know for sure later this afternoon. The other thread was getting long, anyway, so even though I am jumping the gun a little, I figured a new one wouldn't hurt. Here's what she had to say:

Well the happy phone call finally came! P's INR is 2.4 which should get him a ticket home :) The "Boss" (Dr. Michler) is in town and will see him later today and give him discharge orders.

Saw him last night for the first time since before surgery and he TRULY looks better than he has looked since about a year before the bypass surgery, I think that was in '95.

Wonderful news, indeed! Sort of appropriate that the cafeteria here at work is serving an Independance Day special lunch today, with pulled pork, BBQ chicken, baked beans, corn on the cob, creamed spinach, and coleslaw. He kept telling me he felt fine before the surgery... seen this with parishioners. They never knew how good they COULD feel, because the loss of energy had come so slow they thought it was just age and changing activities.

One guy we went to see in the hospital, post-op, was a color we had NEVER seen him be.... it's really something. Thinking of the reaction of that 70+-year-old parishioner (*G*) as reported by his wife in later weeks (*G*), maybe some of those Spawbucks will have to go to a little getaway for him and Karen.... *G*G* Kat, be sure he thinks of that before giving it all to Mudcat! *G*

Does the entire hospital staff run madly to the door pushing a crash crap cart full of emergency equipment like toilet paper and a mop?
Do they announce "CODE BROWN, ROOM 357B CRAPPER" over the public address system?
I'd really like to know. I never heard of anyone pulling that string.

Just got off the phone with himself. He is at Connie's. The boys are asleep in the air conditioned tent camper; Karen is at work; he is about to go in the camper and settle down with a book.

They probably will not get everything gathered up and ready to go home until Karen's had a bit of a nap in the morning, so it will probably be evening before he gets on here.

They had pizza tonight and he made a big antipasta salad. said it tasted great.

He just sounds wonderful!
