Oracles (runes, tarot, ect) skulls, Green Men masks, RPGing dice, gargoyles, sand timers, Prisims (Ya know, to be hung in sunny windows?) general neat fantasy stuff... nothing cutesy unless it's gargoyle cutesy... Penny whistles (any keys but D, C and Bb) Guiness stuff, (but not T-shirts please... I have 6 already...) 11. what are some of your other hobbies? see above re:collecting... I also have a weakness for black licorice... Can that be a hobby? Little bottles of foreign booze should count too... 12. do you prefer gold-tone or silver-tone jewelry? Silver... BTW, my maille counts as siver-tone!! (Hint hint hint! LOL!!) 13. please include anything else you feel is important that would help your secret santa know what you would like. I'm stuck with a p.o.s P200 computer and will be more than happy to take old hardware off peoples hands... Wide-ish, rusticy guitar straps are welcome... I need to find a better music book stand for gigs... something more sturdy than the collapsable chrome jobby I have now, but that folds down just as small or smaller... ( a tough find, I know...) If anyone finds a calander called "Sex and the Single Teddy Bear", I'll swap gold and jewels for it!!! |

The American People in Their Stories, Legends, Tall Tales, Traditions, Ballads and Songs by Botkin, Benjamin Albert 6. ballads, love songs 7. The Best Of Joe & Eddie, Hickory Wind's new release 8. None 9. Extra large usually shrinks down to about the right size 10. musical instruments (no help, huh?) 11. carving - wood, bone, brass, stone; freshwater fishing 12. I don't wear any jewelry at all - not even a watch. 13. I especially like things that are hand crafted - especially if made by the giver. Gosh, I feel as though I should add to this that I like quiet walks on sandy beaches, slow dancing in the moonlight and feel certain that my special someone is out there someplace. *G*

F (last time I looked, but with all those additives & genetically modified foods .....Oh, never mind!) 3. Do you have a favorite color? purr-ple, gotta be purr-ple, but other than that: shimmery colours, lots of colours. 4. favorite authors/ type of book? Unfortunately for Secret Santas I tend to buy as many books as I can find by my favourite authors (Margaret Atwood, Nevil Shute, Terry Pratchett etc) so there aren't many gaps left on the shelves there. But please note: I'm happy with second-hand/used books. 5. what books have you really been wanting? I've nearly got all of the Nevil Shute books now, so that doesn't help much. 6. what type of music do you like? Harp music written by Turlough O'Carolan, e.g. played by Derek Bell of the Chieftains. Music is difficult because I like so many different types. Not really fond of Country & Western, though. I love African music, Middle Eastern music, Gypsy music - anything with complex polyrhythms in percussion, even my Leftfield CD's (techno percussion). All sorts of celtic stuff.
7. what cds have you really been wanting? I have decided to get more focused on learning music theory and this site, recommended by a Mudcatter, has a really good music theory CD-ROM. http://www.musictheory.halifax.ns.ca/ 8. What movies (vhs is in the price range) have you been wanting? This one is too hard: I would really love a copy of Call Me Madam with Ethel Merman & Donald O'Connor, but I've done a search and it just isn't available any more. 9. what is your t-shirt size? Medium to large 10. do you collect anything? if so, what? No, but anything artistic, e.g. an art print by Monet, or a t-shirt with an art print on it. 11. what are some of your other hobbies? drawing/painting with pastels, watercolour pencils. Computer graphics, digital art, etc Playing the harp (string-type harp) 12. do you prefer gold-tone or silver-tone jewelry? I love purple, love biggest, baggiest all cotton tees, can't wear anything but cotton. Love almost any kind of music except some C&W and current pop. Would love to replenish a couple of old tapes of Don Williams and/or Rex Allen, Jr. their early stuff. Books I get myself, a lot of mystery, scifi, fantasy, Native American fiction and non-fiction. Don't wear much jewellry unless it's something I've made myself, but it all gets in the way these days. I've even quit wearing a watch! I love handmade things, esp. from other Mudcatters and would be happy with anything which comes from shared sentiments, as Norton1 mentioned. Thanks, this should be fun! |

Ted Turner popularized the Engineer's Hat with a lot of us (me included) and about 20 years back, the classic painter's cap with the sort bill became real popular (I think I still have one laying around that advertizes Harken). It spawned a rash of "city girl" novels which follow the same plotline as a standard "Mills and Boon" novel but with a Cosmo attitude (more sex, more alcohol) - girl wants nothing but to settle down but can't find a man, girl fancies boy, boy is nasty, girl breaks heart over boy, has relationship with him, is treated badly and then realises she actually loves her best (male) friend better and marries him and they live happily ever after (or at least til the book finishes). What annoys me is that the girls in these books are constantly obsessed with and unhappy with their looks, have jobs as PAs and secretaries, are extremely neurotic, and only find true happiness cos they get a man. Argh! Sorry - I really can't stand them. |

(It depends on if your from somewhere outside of the U.S. - interesting rocks/minerals, beer coasters, history books about your town, anything like that would be great.
