Subject: RE: Kim Howells is Now After Trainspotters From: The Shambles Date: 18 Jul 04 - 09:19 AM This from the current issue of Private Eye (No. 1109, 25 June - 8 July 2004, p6): "Transport Minister Kim Howells may come to regret his comments in a recent BBC documentary about the 1984 miners' strike. As research officer of the South Wales National Union of Mineworkers at the time, he recalled, he started hastily shredding union records when a taxi driver taking a strike breaker to work was killed by a concrete block dropped from a bridge. This admission aroused the interest of Dai Knacker. After grilling the minister, South Wales police have now sent a file to the crown prosecution service. Howells will return to Pontypridd next month to hear whether he's to be charged with perverting the course of justice." |

Subject: RE: Kim Howells is Now After Trainspotters From: Cats Date: 19 Jul 04 - 02:11 PM Sorry to have to correct you but Dear Dr Howells didn't have a go at folk music first. It was he who sold out the miners at a Union meeting in 1985 even though he was the NUM Rep at the time. If you want to know what really happened at the meeting we will be in the Anchor over Sidmouth week. We know, we were there! |
