Subject: RE: Dave Mallett From: SINSULL Date: 01 Nov 02 - 09:52 PM Have to admit: after listening to the "Haying Song" for years, it finally occurred to me to see who wrote it. I expected "Trad." and instead found Dave Mallett. "Inch By Inch" may have made him famous but the "Haying Song" is pure folk. He, by the way, is taller than he seems. That mammoth bass player is deceptive. |
Subject: RE: Dave Mallett From: Midchuck Date: 01 Nov 02 - 10:01 PM Why's he sounding bored? Is he sick of his own music? Guhhaawww! Nyuck, Nyuck! Peter |
Subject: RE: Dave Mallett From: SINSULL Date: 02 Nov 02 - 09:23 AM Peter, Go stand in the corner and sing all the verses of all the versions of "Barbara Allan". Nyuck Nyuck, indeed. |
Subject: RE: Dave Mallett From: Midchuck Date: 02 Nov 02 - 11:43 AM Actually, Kris and I were working on an idea for a song to the tune of "Barbara Allen," to be titled "I Draw the Line at Haggis." I could work on that instead. The only rhyme I have so far is "Gag us." P. |

Subject: RE: Dave Mallett From: GUEST,vlmagee Date: 11 Nov 02 - 09:04 AM I am hosting a party/house concert this coming Saturday night (Nov 16) at my home in upstate NY (Saratoga Springs). David Mallett is the featured performer. This is a private party, but we have room for a few more people. There will be an opening act - a very accomplished duo who met via the Internet (as did all of the folks attending). Most of us are Lightfoot fans, so you will hear some Lightfoot from the openers and also a couple of tunes from David, who is himself a big Lightfoot fan. A full gourment dinner is included and there will be jamming afterwards. Write to me via e-mail at vlmagee@mageenet.net if you'd like more information. If you play guitar, plan to bring it! |
