Subject: RE: BS: Feets Don't Fail Me Now.... Eeeeew. From: Mrrzy Date: 20 Jun 08 - 12:53 PM This is being VERY interesting. Apparently the dna doesn't match the people who weren't recovered after the latest plane crash - and one of the right feet was a hoax. And they aren't saying if the one left foot (well, I guess they were all left, even the right ones) has a shoe that matches any of the right feet... So what is the theory, here, that after you decompose enough for your pieces to fall off, if you have sneakers, they float? Should people be told to wear sneakers when flying over water? I found this whole thing FASCINATING. And I have a pathologist friend I'll see tonight who was just in Vancouver... maybe he knows more... |

Subject: RE: BS: Feets Don't Fail Me Now.... Eeeeew. From: wysiwyg Date: 20 Jun 08 - 01:06 PM OK, let's solve it by process of elimination. None of the feet are mine, nor do they belong to anyone I know. We can make a database of people these do not belong to, and then whoever is not in the DB, that's whose missing them. A result of leaving them in their mouths too long, or up their asses? I know it isn't really funny. It's just so ODD that funny seems to be the only way to approach thinking about it along the way to seriousness. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Feets Don't Fail Me Now.... Eeeeew. From: Amos Date: 20 Jun 08 - 01:12 PM We know there are at least four bodies missing their right feet. There is a strong probability the bodies are dead. They may or may not be missing their left feet or other parts as well, but we can't tell for sure. No reports have been relayed of bodies found missing said feet. I am reminded of variosu forms of ritual punishment in primitive societies such as cutting off one hand of someone who steals. Is it possible these are from tourists who didn't know the taboos of some isolated tribe in the Northwest, and had their feet cut off for crimes against society? I suppose it could be a Polish kidnapping scheme...did the feet have notes attached to them? A |
Subject: RE: BS: Feets Don't Fail Me Now.... Eeeeew. From: Rapparee Date: 20 Jun 08 - 01:31 PM Lots more needs to be known. For example, were the feet hacked off, as with an axe, sawn off, of "dissected" off? It should be possible to make an educated guess at height and age; sex can be determined by a quick genetic test of course. The shoes themselves, by wear patterns and brands, might give insight into the foot's economic status and possibly even supply clues as to where it's been. Don't have enough information right now.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Feets Don't Fail Me Now.... Eeeeew. From: Bee Date: 20 Jun 08 - 02:12 PM The feet were not hacked off, and appear to have detached from their bodies by natural decomposition, and yes, float because they are in shoes. The shoes also protect them somewhat from scavengers. Apparently, left feet and right feet have enough difference in weight balance that they commonly float in different directions. I have not seen anywhere that the plane crash victims from a couple years ago had been eliminated by DNA tests. |

Subject: RE: BS: Feets Don't Fail Me Now.... Eeeeew. From: Amos Date: 21 Jun 08 - 01:27 PM Guest: That news was posted up hread some time back. "Feets -- don't fail me now!" is from a popular cartoon series of the 40's and 50's. It originally came from a Bob Hope movie. ""THE GHOST BREAKERS, 1940, directed by George Marshall, screenplay by Walter De Leon, from the play by Paul Dickey and Charles W. Goddard. Starring Bob Hope, Paulette Goddard, Richard Carlson, Willie Best, and Anthony Quinn. Bob Hope stars as a radio broadcaster on the run from the mob who flees to an island off Cuba with heiress Paulette Goddard and his butler/ Òfamily detainer,Ó played by the unforgettable Willie Best, only to come up against ghosts and zombies galore. Plenty of silliness and lots of HopeÕs trademark one-liners, but the most memorable one is spoken by Best, ÒFeets, donÕt fail me now!Ó" The phrase acquired overtones of racist stereotyping because of Best, who played a huge numbr of roles as an African-Ameican sterotype, including the elevator operator on "My Little Margie" inter alia. So, not the plane crash victims, not over-boarded Chinese would-be immigrants, and probably all men. Also, detached naturally, not cut off. I think someone may be dumping bodies out to sea. I was a little weirded out by the report in the Van.Sun article where the plane crash victim's family rushed to the beach when they heard another foot (which turned out to be a hoax) had been found (before the DNA results, presumably). Maybe it's just me, but if I thought my relative's foot had washed ashore, I'd be waiting for the police to advise me if it was likely related. And I bet that craig's list poster is gonna have to answer a few questions. |

Subject: RE: BS: Feets Don't Fail Me Now.... Eeeeew. From: GUEST,dianavan Date: 21 Jun 08 - 10:51 PM British Columbia seems to attract its share of socio-paths. First we have a farmer feeding prostitutes to pigs. Now we have human feet washing ashore. My guess is that these feet might belong to the young men who have gone missing without a trace. I think we have another sociopath on the loose. I'm astounded that the police cannot connect the seemingly separate events. I feel so sorry for the families of the missing men. It must be absolutely heartbreaking to have your son disappear. |

Perhaps something along the lines of "Get there first with .... Our shoes are so good that not only will they get you to your destination before the crowd but they'll even get there before the rest of you" There will probably be a TV campaign with group of athletes with a different sort of shoe on the other foot. My other thought was that my son grew an extra foot between the time he was 12 and 16. Could it perhaps be nature's way of getting rid of them? |

Subject: RE: BS: Feets Don't Fail Me Now.... Eeeeew. From: Bee Date: 24 Jun 08 - 11:09 AM Re currents: CBC had a short special report on the case, and talked to a current expert in Seattle as well as the BC forensics guy and the police chief - and the couple who found the first foot. The currents guy said while they could have come from anywhere, down the Fraser River would be his first guess, given where they have washed up. He also said when he has found feet in shoes washed ashore (more common than one would think, apparently), they can often trace the shoe/sneaker to the actual store it came from (serial number on tongue - who knew?), which narrows things down some. The police and forensics guy are not really very forthcoming, understandably, but said DNA retrieved from the first three don't match any missing persons they've been able to check yet. It was noted that decomposition in water made it likely the first foot showed up not much more than a month after the death of the person, which gives a rough estimate on what missing persons it might be. At one point it was mentioned the number of people who jump off bridges every year in BC - a lot. |
