Subject: RE: Sharp: English Folk Songs...Appalachians From: Joe Offer Date: 04 Jul 12 - 05:49 PM Aw, I wish I had known a year and a half ago that this was coming out. I bought a used, musty-smelling copy at the Mudcat auction for about the price of the Loomis edition. Any other projects in the works, Dick? I don't mind waiting. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Sharp: English Folk Songs...Appalachians From: dick greenhaus Date: 04 Jul 12 - 05:35 PM Just in case anyone's confused, Loomis house Press and CAMSCO Musuc have been partners in this important re-release. (We also teamed up to make Bronson's "Traditional tunes of the Child Ballads" and "Singing Tradition of the Child Ballads" available, as well as Stuart Frank's "Jolly Sailors Bold" and "The New Book of Pirate Songs" |
Subject: Sharp: English Folk Songs...Appalachians From: IvanB Date: 04 Jul 12 - 03:55 PM Forgive me if this has already been noted on the forum, but I did several searches and it didn't come up. Folkies might be interested to know that Cecil J. Sharp's "English Folk Songs from the Southern Appalachians" is available in a facsimile reprint from Loomis House Press. This is the more complete 1932 edition in two volumes, not the 1917 version which is available online. Dunno about anybody else but I like hard copies to curl up in my chair with. |
