Thank you cetmst. Will have a look.
The tune is now lodged in my head and I can't get it out!

See Mudcat threads "Julian of Norwich"and "Bells of Norridge". Book 5 of "Songs of Sydney Carter" has lyrics, piano arrangement and chords.
I have a copy of British Heritage Magazine's Notable Britons series giving a brief biography of St.Julian

It is nice isn't it leeneia? Somehow it chokes me up a bit. I've visited Julian's shrine in Norwich, and her statue is at the door of Norwich Cathedral, with that of St Benedict.
I really like the words, "Let the winter come and go..."
Very pretty tune.

Ah, thanks for that Nigel. Bit sad he wasn't from Narridge!

Senoufou,
You'll find lots of info on the creator of "Lord of the dance" (and I don't mean Michael Flatley) if you search with the spelling "Sydney Carter". Apparently a London boy through and through.

Cheers
Nigel

I've just re-discovered this lovely song, and I see it's on your database. I remember vaguely singing this with my pupils on Singing Together years ago. Does anyone know about Sidney Carter? When did he write this and does/did he actually live in Norwich?
Also, on Youtube, there's a choir (dressed in black and red, but un-named) singing it, and they're possibly Scottish. Can anyone identify them for me?
