Subject: RE: John Prine: I Remember Everything From: GUEST,Jerome Clark Date: 18 Aug 20 - 08:43 PM Last night I walked into the living room as the song was playing on the TV screen featuring the Democratic convention. I thought the singer sounded like John Prine, but I knew it couldn't be because I'd never heard the song before. This morning Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin mentioned Prine and song with a URL that took me to YouTube. What a magnificent composition. Prine went out on a grace note. The song's use as tribute to the 170,000 American victims of coronavirus (one of them, of course, Prine himself) was profoundly moving. |
Subject: RE: John Prine: I Remember Everything From: Jeri Date: 18 Aug 20 - 09:30 PM Here's a link to just the song on YouTube: I Remember Everything I'd heard it a while ago. I think maybe his wife posted a link to it somewhere. When I heard it at the convention, I watched it, thinking "Hell, yeah!" Thanks for remembering Prine, and some of the individual victims. |
Subject: ADD: I Remember Everything (John Prine) From: Joe Offer Date: 18 Aug 20 - 09:38 PM I REMEMBER EVERYTHING (John E Prine / Pat Mclaughlin) Alright I've been down this road before I remember every tree Every single blade of grass Holds a special place for me And I remember every town And every hotel room And every song I ever sang On a guitar out of tune I remember everything Things I can't forget The way you turned and smiled on me On the night that we first met And I remember every night Your ocean eyes of blue How I miss you in the morning light Like roses miss the dew I've been down this road before Alone as I can be Careful not to let my past Go sneaking up on me Got no future in my happiness Though regrets are very few Sometimes a little tenderness Was the best that I could do I remember everything Things I can't forget Swimming pools of butterflies That slipped right through the net And I remember every night Your ocean eyes of blue How I miss you in the morning light Like roses miss the dew How I miss you in the morning light Like roses miss the dew Source: LyricFind (accuracy verified by Joe Offer) Songwriters: John E Prine / Pat Mclaughlin I Remember Everything lyrics © Downtown Music Publishing The last recorded song by John Prine.
