Subject: Utah Phillips Oz Tour? From: Charley Noble Date: 09 Jan 02 - 04:55 PM One of my West Coast friends was mentioning that Utah Phillips had recently completed an Australian tour in which he sang some Henry Lawson ballads. We're very fond of Utah over here. Any comment from you folks in Oz? |

Subject: RE: BS: Utah Phillips Oz Tour? From: Charley Noble Date: 10 Jan 02 - 12:47 PM Sorry, false alarm. What my friend was referring to was one of Utah's radio programs: I was just listening to a tape of one of Phillips' programs done on Australia; this one was all outlaws, stockmen, andabos. There's another one about Australian labor history, which is excellent. |
Subject: RE: BS: Utah Phillips Oz Tour? From: Bob Bolton Date: 10 Jan 02 - 10:38 PM G'day Charlie, You had me worried for a while there! Anyone can overlook a few things, but I keep a close eye on the local folk fora ... and overlooking such a tour would have really taken a bit of doing. I would be interested to hear how he handled the Australian content ... I have been gently nudging a bit of our Aussie material in the 'Cat and its environs ... and I have yet to hear how some of these turn out, so I'm always interested in how American singers handle Australian themes. Regards, Bob Bolton |
