From that web site:

Garrison Keillor and Rich Dworsky Tickets

The cast of A Prairie Home Companion will be on a cruise through Southeast Alaska April 14-21st. Garrison Keillor has graciously offered to do a small show for KTOO listeners, with himself and Rich Dworsky while they are in Juneau on July 16th. The performance will be at Centennial Hall from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., with pictures and photographs from 6:30-7 p.m. At Mr. Keillor's request, we are limiting attendance to 300. To be fair with ticket distribution, we will conduct a drawing -- if your name is drawn, you will have the option to buy two tickets. Ticket price is $30 each. To enter the drawing, fill out and submit the form below.

It is indeed Garrison doing the Honda adverts... and it's great to hear him on the Digital radiobox... which is what I'm doing now cos I missed it Saturday!

Good luck on getting a ticket.. there are some people who are sold out before they even get to the venue - locals don't get a look in because the groupies and die-hard fans have scooped them all up first.

If it is anything like out "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue" program - when they wander into far flung parts of the country there is a scramble for seats.

Love GK - we get it here in the UK on digital radio.

I think I spotted GK doing Honda adverts in the UK (probably global)- the message is "cleaner diesel" so it would fit his ethos.

Thank you, RR! I never even thought of looking online.

That answers all my questions.

hahah, Rap. (shhhh There are people who like them!)

Do tickets get put in a container and then drawn? Surely you would not buy a $30 ticket on the chance that you'd get in? I'd call that a raffle, not a lottery.

It sounds to me like Keillor or his manager has an incomplete idea of life in a small town.

Kind of like Nanci Griffit, our Guest Artist at this year's Folk Festival. She gave the same show twice - Thursday and Sunday- down to the same patter. Luckily I wasn't there for the second show- I was jamming in another room . :)

Ebbie, why not use one of those big outhouses out behind the public library? Oh, wait, those are cruise ships....

Lottery? Perhaps he is stunned or struck, with himself. Seriously, if he thinks "tickets are that scarce", he might consider doing two, or more, shows.

Hey, I think the world of the guy. Love his stuff. He is a master. But, that really sucks.

You're right, Ebbie, that a 1200 seat hall in a 30,000 person town probably won't fill up with humans. But don't forget that PHC is very popular among the ruminant population. They're probably expecting a lot of moose and caribou, especially if Tom Keith does the sound effects.

If 1200 tickets are sold then everyone will win the lottery. If 1201 are sold, then someone has to stand.

We were informed the other day that Garrison Keillor is coming to Juneau, Alaska to do a show- and the ticket applications will be by lottery. $30 a ticket.

Does anyone know how this works? Is he going to do 'Prairie Home Companion' here- and thus space is limited? Or does he do a private show and he expects too many people who will want in the hall?

Keep in mind that this is a town of 30,000- with no outlying towns; our biggest hall holds about 1200 people, which is ample for even the biggest performances we have had.
