"Slee" means aboot th' same as "pawky"...(Stop bein' sae obscure, lass!!!) er, summat claise tae th' Amurrican waird "sly", but wi' mair connotations. OCH!!! I'm exhaustit frae ettlin' tae heft sae mony idioms. It's thinkin' I am that I'll jist gae lay ma ainsel' doon... S'e an amadan a' th' annam! An beannachd leibh, co-dhuibh... --Cuilionn |

Subject: RE: About Catspaw - PartII From: Rick Fielding Date: 02 May 99 - 01:30 AM Jeez Lonesome, it's had a hell of an effect on me! Can I join you and "Paw" at that table? |
Subject: RE: About Catspaw - PartII From: Lonesome EJ Date: 02 May 99 - 01:26 AM I have been praying hard for Cats. I'm still having a hard time imagining him not being able to speak- I imagine he'll be making up for lost time in a few days. In the meantime, I am going to visualize sitting at breakfast with him, the waitress serving us up big plates of biscuits, country ham, red eye gravy, black coffee and all the other wonderful country cuisine that Karen and the Doctors will never let him eat again. But I've got a strong feeling that that old boy is feeling well enough by now to know he's damned hungry. Unfortunately it'll be jello ,chicken broth and ginger ale for a while. Anyway, maybe my intense visualization of that breakfast at Thelma's Cafe will get to him and alleviate some of those hunger pangs. Astrally yours, LEJ |
Subject: RE: About Catspaw - PartII From: Sandy Paton Date: 02 May 99 - 12:58 AM Amen, Banjer. Still doing my equivalent of prayer. Sandy |
Subject: RE: About Catspaw - PartII From: Banjer Date: 01 May 99 - 11:26 PM Very good Susan, while we rejoice let us do so with guarded optimism and not let up on our prayers. He needs them now every bit as much as when the news first broke. |
Subject: RE: About Catspaw - PartII From: Susan A-R Date: 01 May 99 - 11:15 PM As for me, I begin to wonder what brought this on. Was it an army of Tiple players, or did someone slip a Neil Young cd in the player while the cat was away? I am much relieved to hear that the news is improved. The cafe wouldn't be the same without those little paw tracks. Still praying though, just to keep things on the upswing. Susan |

Subject: RE: About Catspaw - PartII From: Helen Date: 01 May 99 - 08:53 PM I just did a little retrospective research because I wanted to know a little more about catspaw. Apart from finding out his age and where he lives (50, SE Ohio) this is all I could come up with. Kinda reminds me why we love him, don't it? Cuilionn, What do those two amazing words mean: "carnaptious" and "slee"? Whatever they are I'm sure I agree with you. "Carryin' th' weicht o' th' wairld, pretendin' tae be carnaptious an' slee tae obscure yir auld saftie sel' belaw it a'..... Hmph" (Cuilionn, in Part 1 of this thread)) Helen Subject: RE: What does a mudcatter do? From: catspaw49 Date: 08-Jan-99 - 09:22 PM Sixties radical who forgot who he was for 25 years; looked in mirror one day and wondered what the hell happened...left Fortune 500 company to raise my kids and became a househusband, child advocate and foster parent, and, as full time as I can, luthier. We'd already been fostering for several years and adopted two boys. When I resigned, my letter stated that I didn't want my life or my sons' to wind up like a Harry Chapin song lyric. I'm sure they had no idea what I was talking about! catspaw49 Subject: RE: What does a mudcateer look like? (truth opt) From: catspaw49 Date: 15-Mar-99 - 02:16 AM erica---Glad you passed that explanation on to Rick 'cause you look wonderful but, uh, yeah...........that's one of the screwier shots I've ever seen! Is the one on the left thinking or wiping drool from her mouth? The buzz cut in back...a guy or a Sinead wannabe? The girl to your left looks to be doing a nostril inspection of Paul Bunyan. And lemme' guess, the photographer is a student that wins the praise of every artsy-fartsy type within a 21 mile radius. What do I look like...LEJ old buddy, you say we all might eventually meet and so you refreshed this stupid thread. I avoided this turkey before and much as I love ya' there bro...I'm gonna' pass on it now. catspaw Subject: RE: What does a mudcateer look like? (truth opt) From: Lonesome EJ Date: 15-Mar-99 - 02:16 PM OK catspaw if that's the way you want it. I'm gonna keep on picturing you with red hair and a red beard, probably freckles, perched on your front porch with the Computer sittin on top of the washin machine, you're wearin yer Mudcat t-shirt, overalls, and a big grin. You are tall and lanky, and I bet your wife teases you about yer paunch. You live on a ridge in the hills, and yer kids throw dirt clods at the neighbor's dog. You have a jacuzzi on the back porch, for some reason, and your old Takamine is leanin against the refrigerator, which contains a 12 pack of light beer and some turkey baloney which you like to eat right out of the package. You also would really enjoy a well-marbeled New York Strip, but your wife is against it.

Subject: RE: About Catspaw - PartII From: BK Date: 01 May 99 - 06:00 PM Night owl: be glad to help when I can. I live in central Missouri, so I'm not close, alas. I'm not a cardiologist or surgeon - I'm the medical director in a prison -what the military calls a "GMO," (general medical officer; like a battallion or squadron "surgeon")& I also used to do forensics (depressing work) but I'll do what I can. You can pretty well bet your bottom dollar that there's almost always multiple valid ways to approach medical problems & multiple opinions & detail differences in the reccomendations of even the best, well trained, conscientious & ethical physicians, so the family will likely already be starting to get various options suggested; I don't want to inadvertantly give even more conflicting info from what the treating physicians are suggesting. And also, I'm not privy to the mass of details necessarily missing from our picture of the 'ol 'Spaw as a patient, 'n also I reckon he's at a big enough medical center that the guys & gals on his team probably know very well indeed what they're doin' 'n we don't want to confuse/increase stress on Karen 'n her mom by second guessing. Having said that, if I can maybe explain some anatomic or medical concepts to help out, I'll be glad to. I don't have time to check here as often asI'd like, so be patient if I'm not responding real fast... Anyway, I still think there might (hope there will!) come a time when we can flood the 'ol 'Spaw w/tons o' great folkish musical stuff, so he can tell us - like a music critic, ya know, what he thinks of our - no doubt very eclectic - tastes when he gets better. Cheers, BK |

Subject: About Catspaw - PartII From: Banjer Date: 01 May 99 - 02:02 PM Having become rather bulky I started part two here. Having just learned some more HTML I'll attempt to create a link back to part 1. Yet Another Blue Clicky Thingie that Joe fixed If it worked fine, if not, will someone please clean the mess out of the litter box? The news in Mick's post from Connie's e-mail is encouraging. The fact that he looked at Karen and held her hand AND the fact that he saw his Maw-in-Law there and obviously wondered "where in the H did she come from?" is a good sign.
