Sorta like: It's curry for breakfast, curry for lunch And ice cream in the loo, cuz I got a hunch That buttholes be flamin', on you an' on me When it's curry for dinner after curry for tea And if the ice cream is curry, at least it's cold You might wonder if the thunder from down under's gettin' old Curious? Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: Bill D Date: 11 Apr 05 - 10:28 PM Stephen-- I hate to interrupt all this evil planning with boring routine..*grin*...but as summer progresses, there will be threads about Getaway workshop ideas.... This year, Carly will be doing a large part of the schedule, assisted by Rita, who has done most of it for the past 5 years..(and a couple others. Carly is not on everyday, but she'll no doubt be happy to have a list of ideas. (I don't think we've had yodeling for ages!) There's gonna be so much talent at this years Getaway that we'd have to run for 3 weeks to use it all! |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: jacqui.c Date: 11 Apr 05 - 10:28 PM It's OK Brett - we'll look after your lovely lady. Trust us. |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: Amos Date: 11 Apr 05 - 10:39 PM "It's called doowop-san, Masako. It's easy. Just make a mouth like this and go ooo-wwaaaa oooooo-waaa along with the rest of us, ok??" Right. Do I really want to see this poor delicate cultured Japanese woman sucked in to the machinations of the Mudcat's seamiest denizens? Hmmm....I dunno. Brett, ya wanna go down to Florida instead? I hear BWL is floating an alternative site down there.... :D A |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: Amos Date: 11 Apr 05 - 10:56 PM I am sorry, a thousand times -- I meant Wakana, not Masako -- the old clutch really needs replacing, I guess! :) A |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: GUEST,MMario Date: 12 Apr 05 - 09:00 AM Big Mick and unsuspecting males? does that mean those of us who are duly paranoid about the situation are safe? |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: Tinker Date: 12 Apr 05 - 09:32 AM Perhaps at this stage, unsuspecting should be changed to less than explicitly warned.... Some folks have no chance of escape, others may squeak through if only on the basis of ... So many men, so little time.... He He He He tinker It's not paranoia if someone's really out to get you....giggle, giggle |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: Carly Date: 12 Apr 05 - 11:52 AM I'm here, I'm here! Bill is right, I sometimes cannot check in every day, but since I am doing programming for the Getaway, I will be around as much as possible. We appreciate all your input; please be aware that we will not be putting the schedule grid together for some time. Rita, Bill, Charlie(in fact, most of the usual suspects) are involved with the Washington Folk Festival, FSGW's biggest single event, and so we will be busy through the first weekend in June with that.It also helps to wait until the registrar is in place, so we can see who is coming this year. However, PLEASE feel free to send workshop suggestions, info on your own talents, etc. to me or to Rita. It would be easier for us if you would PM me rather than communicate only through the thread(s); this thread alone is now over 400 entries(!) and I do not want to miss anybody. Every year I think, "how can it get better than my memories of last year?" and every year holds new and wonderful times at the Getaway. Since I've been going evey year for over three decades, I feel confident in predicting a wonderful time, and I am looking forward to seeing you all. Carly |

We may not get to the southern part of the west coast of the USA on this big trip and I would like Wakana to get the chance to meet you. Are you bringing your lovely wife? |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: Amos Date: 13 Apr 05 - 03:37 PM MM: It's not a wimp-out, man!! It's strategy. I learned it from Lao-tzu: "The wise general, no matter how well-equipped, will not do battle with women. For to do so is to subscribe to a problem for which no solution is possible." The Art of War, 16th edition, page 211. A |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: GUEST,MMario Date: 13 Apr 05 - 03:39 PM I'm betting Lao-tzu had sisters. Probably older ones. |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: jacqui.c Date: 13 Apr 05 - 04:59 PM LOL. You guys kill me! I am SO looking forward to October. |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: SINSULL Date: 13 Apr 05 - 05:57 PM Now I am suffering from an ear worm: "...And Granpappy Amos He's the head of the clan Roars like a lion but he's gentle as a lamb And now here's Luke who beams with joy Since he may take Mrs. Luke McCoy" So happy to share. |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: Big Mick Date: 14 Apr 05 - 07:43 AM I am currently in negotiations with the bargaining team from the Corporate Home office of Weather Gods, Inc. LTD KMA . I have told them that the solidarity amongst my brother and sister Mudcatters/FSGW'ers is at a record high and that we are prepared to take whatever steps are necessary to achieve our bargaining goals of fair weather and warm temps. I am fully prepared to exercise all the negotiating skills that I have learned in some 25+ years of bargaining. Solidarity brothers, and ESPECIALLY sisters. Will this get me a little slack???? Mick |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: George Papavgeris Date: 14 Apr 05 - 07:55 AM I don't know why you bother about getting slack. I've been slack all my life |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: kendall Date: 14 Apr 05 - 08:04 AM Mick, I wish I could help, I really do, but you have never seen our cellar, and you can't imagine how much I detest Rock and Rap. |

Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: Tinker Date: 14 Apr 05 - 08:43 AM "Oh, Hard is the fortune of all .... " Whoops maybe this year it should be mankind... BG Negotiating the weather???? Using silver tounge techniques on the Gods to assure your own self interest.... Seems to be some sort of conflict of interest in that stance.... Wouldn't want you to compromise your reputaion Mick... Relax Now Amos, perhaps some further inspiration coming to us from the Temple of the Golden Globes might enlighten and energize those of us involved..... Hmmmmmmm Tinker |
Subject: RE: Getaway 2005 (14-17 Oct ) From: Naemanson Date: 14 Apr 05 - 08:46 AM Well, I do know how much the Cap'n hates rock and rap and I can imagine what the cellar looks like. It seems to me he and Amos are taking the only sane way out of this dilemma. I, on the other hand, will be escorting a woman for whom our whole culture is a mystery - ALL of it, not just the Mudcat portion. For that reason I am sure the kind ladies will leave me out of their machinations. The rest of you guys are on your own! |
