Subject: RE: Oh no, I'm a drummer now too!!! From: THE MAJOR Date: 13 Jun 02 - 05:38 PM I remember when I was about five years old getting a toy drum for my birthday. You know the one, with the string around your neck. and two little drumsticks. I loved that little drum and I proudly "played" it everywhere, ,in the house. upstairs, downstairs, in the the toilet and in the bedroom. You can't imagine the pleasure I got the from the tap tap of that drum. But it all came to a sad end when my mother told me the drum was full of sweets. |

Subject: RE: Oh no, I'm a drummer now too!!! From: Steve Parkes Date: 12 Jun 02 - 10:26 AM Don't give up hope, Morty--my lad started playing the drums for a Death Metal (whatever that is) band, but eventually he realised the error of his ways, and now he collects guitars; mostly electric, but it's a strat! Steve Sorry--I mean a start! |
Subject: RE: Oh no, I'm a drummer now too!!! From: Pseudolus Date: 12 Jun 02 - 09:50 AM Awesome!! Morticia, the need to play may go dormant for a while but you never get rid of it.....sorry..... :)

Everyone, thanks for the jokes!! Dicho, I stand (or in my case sit) corrected. Going forward I will call myself a percussionist. A MUCH nicer term than most will use!!!! Frank

Subject: RE: Oh no, I'm a drummer now too!!! From: GUEST,Bardford Date: 11 Jun 02 - 06:37 PM Being of the percussion persuasion myself, I am am enured to the slings and arrows of the skinless. Ergo, it behooves me to submit the following, pre-emptively. What do you call a drummer who splits up with his girlfriend? Homeless. |
Subject: RE: Oh no, I'm a drummer now too!!! From: GUEST,Kaleea Date: 11 Jun 02 - 06:14 PM You think that's fun? Try playing the Bodhran with a Ceoli band--i.e., Irish traditional music! A good, experssive bodhran like my Albert Alfonzo could make almost anybody a happy drummer! |
Subject: RE: Oh no, I'm a drummer now too!!! From: Dicho (Frank Staplin) Date: 11 Jun 02 - 06:13 PM Please, use the PC term "percussionist." When you state your perversion (occupation), people will say "Oh?" and not "ugh!" Reserve drummer for the old time door-to-door salesman. Or does anyone remember that far back? |
Subject: RE: Oh no, I'm a drummer now too!!! From: GUEST Date: 11 Jun 02 - 06:02 PM Don't get it - what's the missing word please? |
Subject: RE: Oh no, I'm a drummer now too!!! From: Mr Red Date: 11 Jun 02 - 05:58 PM If it's drummer jokes you just gotta have the one about the difference between a geanacologist and a drummer - geanie only has to deal with one of them at a time (fill in the missing word) It is the ultimate put down - returned. |
Subject: RE: Oh no, I'm a drummer now too!!! From: van lingle Date: 11 Jun 02 - 04:26 PM Pseudolus, what do you call someone who likes to hang out with musicians? A drummer. Good luck with the new skins, vl |
Subject: RE: Oh no, I'm a drummer now too!!! From: fat B****rd Date: 11 Jun 02 - 03:13 PM I used to play the drums but I had to give up due to skin trouble. |
Subject: RE: Oh no, I'm a drummer now too!!! From: Morticia Date: 11 Jun 02 - 02:36 PM Well Frank, I guess you know the one about how to tell if the stage is level......the drummer drools out of BOTH sides of his mouth...I save up drummer jokes for my daughter who is also aflicted with a need to hit things with sticks, but I was hoping she'd grow out of it.....after reading this, I guess that's a forlorn hope *BG*. |
Subject: Oh no, I'm a drummer now too!!! From: Pseudolus Date: 11 Jun 02 - 01:30 PM I wasn't gonna post this but hey, it has to do with music and I'm pretty damned excited about it so here goes!! When I was in high school, I played the drums in the jazz band. I loved it, I hated carrying them around but I loved playing. I also played in wedding bands for a long time. I gave up the carrying and the playing a long, long time ago but this past October, I started playing the drums (not my own) in a contemporary praise band at my church. It's been a blast and this past weekend, I bought my own set. I got a great price, they sound great and I am like a kid with a new toy. We don't have a place for them at the house yet (they're being stored at the church) but I will soon be terrorizing the neighbors!! So if y'all ever need a drummer, call me!! In the meantime, I'm gonna go through some old threads and read up on all of the drummer jokes!!!!
Take Care All, |
