Subject: Obit: Karen Williamson From: Tam the man Date: 05 Aug 05 - 07:02 AM I know this is a bit late but Roy Williamson's daughter Karen had died. Gavin Browne psoted the news about her death on the corries website. Four years ago I tried to find a source to supply me with copies of Karen's biography of her father Roy. I quickly found out that the book was out of print and that the publishing company had ceased trading. Since then I have had a great many emails and letters from fans all over the world who have also tried in vain to get hold of a copy. The only possible solution would be to commision a reprint of the book, so to this end I contacted Karen Williamson directly. Karen informs me that she owns the rights to the book and that our next challenge would be to try and source the original discs which include the text and artwork. The task is now under way and I have managed to source the text discs. The photos and artwork are still to be found, but I have high hopes of success. The final and most important part of the project will be to try and find enough potential buyers and this is where you come in. If you would be interested in owning a copy of the book I would like to know about it. I intend to compile a list of prospective buyers who would be prepared to advance order a copy (the pricing is still to be sorted out yet). Once I have enough interested people and some firm prices I will then contact you with the information. Hopefully we will be successful and there may even be a bit more to add to the reprinted book. Sadly Karen Williamson died of cancer on 5th May 2005. I know that she wanted me to do everything in my power to re-publish her book and I will contact her husband later this year to see if we can make this a reality. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Karen Williamson From: theballadeer Date: 05 Aug 05 - 08:57 AM I didn't know Karen had died. I don't even think she was 40, more sad news. I would recommend the book, though Roy's illness was very difficult for me to read about. I hope Gavin is able to reprint the book. Nick |
Subject: RE: Obit: Karen Williamson (5th May 2005) From: GUEST,Ann Miller Date: 17 Jul 08 - 08:17 AM I am really sad to read Karen has died. She was a good friend to me when we worked at Graham tisa's in Edinburgh. I used to go out to see her horse Breeze which she had in a field in the Ingliston area. He unfortunately got killed on the road and she got another. She had a mad jack russell called Corrie who was lovely. I went to visit her when she moved to Brodie and stayed in West Cottage with her ever expanding brood of animals but we lost touch unfortunately some time later. She is in a better place with her Dad now. Only found out today. So sorry - God Bless!! |

Subject: RE: Obit: Karen Williamson (5th May 2005) From: GUEST Date: 25 Jul 14 - 11:43 AM Have just discovered The Corries, they are WONDERFUL, TERRIFIC, and their music and songs unsurpassable. They speak of the past, speak of the present and point to the future. I only wish I had known Roy when he was alive. Any contacts are important to me. Rev. Subject: RE: Obit: Karen Williamson (daughter of Roy) 2005 From: it'smagic Date: 09 Jun 15 - 01:32 PM Roy Williamson did have another, younger, daughter, Sheena. I don't think she is involved in any of the Corries' publishing. I believe Ronnie Browne's son Gavin Browne is the only one involved. Ronnie has just written his autobiography. It can be ordered from the Corries website, through Amazon and probably other sellers. |
