Has Woody ever been on film? I have seen a few short snippets here and there, but never a full performance or anything. Can anyone point me to anything, new or out-of-print?

Also, who would anyone suggest to play Woody in a film if it were made today? How about the other major characters in a story like his? Who would play Pete? Leadbelly? Cisco Houston?

Fire away... have fun!

FG

I believe David Carridine has done this. As for the man himself, as you said, snippets. Mike

"One of the two surviving film clips of Woody Guthrie performing. This one, of "Ranger's Command," is from 1945. The other, of "John Henry," with Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, is already on YouTube."

Ranger's Command

John Henry
