Did you know that one can have one's ashes made into a firework (after one has shuffled of this mortal coil) which can then be fired into space?

Way to go......have a great party to farewell the dear departed, then light the paper and stand back......woooooooossssshhhhhhhhhh and away we go........

I have told Himself that's for me.

Cheers

Are you introspective?

It may depend on your brain matter size & distribution

"It appears that introspective ability may depend on the volume of gray matter in a certain part of the brain. Researchers have found a link between increased amounts of gray matter in the right anterior prefrontal cortex and stronger introspective ability. "

I don't think the car would run on farts; being largely methane, farts are LESS compressible than air.

Note (just by the way) that the energy required to fill a compressed air car with high-pressure air nd drive it, say, 100 miles, is probably a deal GREATER than the energy required to fill it with enough regular gas to drive that same 100 miles. The roads would be cleaner, but the net effect on atmosphere would not (unless the plants were solar, nuclear or wind powered).

Save all the trouble of a viking funeral and just burn Bobert, assuming we can get a permit. Probably best to wait until he's dead, because he'd probably raise a fuss if he wasn't.

"There! That oughta do it. Bobert will be so proud, being sent on to the next dimension by the entire Mudcat crowd." Joe O

Since the Getaway is on the Bay, Joe, I think Bobert would argue for the Viking tradition of setting the funereal ship out to sea. That would/will give him a chance to do a Sam McGee- who finally and at long last - got warm.

I have been contemplating why it is so hard for me to stay organized. Today I have to take an air conditioner out of the window. But below the window sits nine boxes of stuff for a yard sale that never happened. If I move that stuff to the shed it will take an hour. That seems a terrible waste of time. So maybe I'll let the air conditioner stay for now...

Saw the little ones like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yrzve4jvY5I on the Gadget Show.

Apart from the lightweight body being a danger in high speed crashes I think they are great. Only problem is they would have to produce a lot of Spaw clones to keep them fuelled.

a spot of randomness.

Why do I persist in going around barefooted when the floors are freezing and I have arthritis in my feet? I really hate any covering on my feet, but I would prefer them to be warm.

Why, when it is cooler weather do I not drink enough water and then get dehydrated? Why don't we feel thirst before we are dehydrated? Thirst should be like hunger pangs and come along before the body is in trouble.

I can't figure these things out.

Well, heck, as long as it started out as an "obit" thread, I think we ought to get together and have an elaborate funeral for Bobert at the Getaway. New Orleans style would be appropriate, and can I ask for an open bar?

What kind of music would work for a Bobert funeral?

Should we give him a little time to convince us our funeral is premature, or should we bury him and get it over with?
Just a closer walk with thee,
    Sorry, Bobert, it must be.
    Walking to your destiny,
To thy grave, dear Bobert, I'll walk with thee.
There! That oughta do it. Bobert will be so proud, being sent on to the next dimension by the entire Mudcat crowd.

Congratulations, Bobert. This is one funeral you're going to enjoy....

I grew this just to see how it looked, what bothered it, etc. It has been an interesting experiment, and I'll grow it farther apart next year. Interesting about your planting it in the landscape - I was thinking it might make a nice hedge. I rolled these pieces in a bowl, and decided I'd use a bag next time. I'm glad to have you confirm that now. And I had about that mix of flour and cornmeal also. The Zatarain's has a little heat, and some salt, but it's pretty good. (I bought a jar of it at Sam's Club that is enough for a family of 8, so I might as well use this as plain cornmeal for a while).

Spaw, you painted such a nice portrait of that evening. Tell me, do farts stink if you burn them first? ;-D

I'm with a couple who are close friends of mine. We're maybe 24 or so and this evening we are getting tremendously stoned, considering our existence, etc. The evening light shades to night and the room, without artificial light, is very dark. Bill is on the floor, Ruthie curled in a chair, and I'm totally at ease, slouched in a soft, old, wingback chair. The stereo plays something of Vivaldi's. The darkness is soon total, our lamb dinner had been fantastic, the weed and the conversation could not have been finer and now only Vivaldi makes waves in the cool night air coming in the through the screen..............Can you see the scene?

Without any prior notice, a match flared briefly followed by a flatulent jet blast as a 2 foot flame rose from the floor and burned itself out about 3 foot up. It was a memorable moment with a fart to match the quality of the day.........I tell you all this as I was amazed at how brightly it lit the room.

Exactly, don't look straight at what you're trying to see, look to the side slightly. The focus field of vision is odd, but that's the best way to see obscure things. Starlight can be enough to light your way. I worked a couple of winters out in the Sonoran Desert, way west of Kit Peak (where they complain about light pollution). We had the most amazing skies to study.

Bobert, I cooked myself some breaded okra tonight. First time for me. I have been growing it this year, mostly because my next door neighbor didn't have luck before and I wanted to try my green thumb, and I've given it all away. Is okra more deep south, or do you have it there in Virginia as well? It certainly needs a lot of tending - it grows so fast those pods get away from you quickly if you don't pick every 18 to 24 hours.

Yes, Rapaire. I've always loved the night with its varying sorts of darkness and light. For some reason, the exchange with our friend, and ease with which we found our way in the silken night once her car lights faded over the rise made me think of some of our human interactions. Sometimes we can see more clearly in other ways too, just following your suggestions.

Go away from the cities and the artificial lights. You can see very well by the stars alone once your eyes become night-adapted. If you want to identify something, glance around it instead of staring directly at it.

In fact, just go where there is no artificial light, lay on the ground, and stare up at the stars. On a clear night, when there is no moon, you'll be amazed at what you see -- and how bloody insignificant you are.

I reckon the unintended prefix will vanish.

A drift for Bobert:
Walking home from a a visit at a neighbor's house tonight, another friend wanted to drive slowly alongside us, so we could "see the road." We thanked her and assured her we would be just fine without the car lights. Isn't it interesting that the wrong kind of light, or too bright a light, can obscure clear vision rather than light the way. Just enough of the right kind of light makes the dark of night seem luminous.
