Ofcourse, Ronnie is now the only face of the Corries you can see unless you go back to the trio. Bill Smith is alive and well. But it sounds as if you are suggesting Ronnie was THE voice of The Corries? which is only half true. Look forward to hearing your podcast

Gavin Paterson here.

Ronnie is quite unique in that he viewed music only as a job. He told me he has never played socially or 'for fun'.

That aside, he was undoubtedly the voice and the face of The Corries. He still gets recognised in the street to this day as "That Guy Fae The Corries".

This was the first time he had talked in depth about the music. I wanted to go deeper than he had in his book. Hopefully you'll find his story of interest.

I attended one of the "An evening with Ronnie Brown" events at which his autobiography was the subject he talked about.

He started it off by explaining his choice of title, "That Guy Fae The Corries". He said that it was a phrase he had heard often and that had caused him to "audit" his life and the different phases of it. He was surprised to find that "The Corries" part of his life amounted to less than one third of it, yet that was how he was best known. Undoubtedly the part of his life he seemed to take greatest satisfaction and pride in was concerned with his art and his painting, and not so much in performing.

Gavin Paterson will be presenting a feature on Ronnie Brown this coming Tuesday on Celtic Music Radio.

Gavin writes:

I recently interviewed Ronnie Browne – aka “That Guy Fae The Corries”. For the first time *ever*, Ronnie wanted to talk about his life in music; from the first gigs and recordings of The Corrie Folk Trio & Paddie Bell right through to the solo work that he did after the passing of Roy Williamson.

The interview will be broadcast on Tuesday 28 November at 1400 GMT on http://www.celticmusicradio.net/ 95 FM in Glasgow and online everywhere. AND it will be available to ‘catch up’ for a full month after.

That should have been "year". Saw Ronnie tonight in Linlithgow, but didn't get the chance to ask him about the book!

I have just finished it and, as an old Corries fan, found it engrossing.
It covers all aspects of his life, keeping his partnership with Roy in perspective.
Some good stuff on the trio with Bill Smith too.

Pics of the signing on Facebook ( posted by Isa Creme.)
I believe Ronnie is also doing a presentation in the Edinburgh Book Festival later in the tear.
