Subject: Johnny Yuma was a rebel
From: Rodney Rawlings

Does anyone know the lyrics to the theme for the 1959-to- 1961 TV show that I think was called "The Rebel Johnny Yuma"? Some lines I remember are:

Johnny Yuma was a rebel. ... Johnny Yuma was a rebel He wandered alone. He got fightin' mad This rebel lad. With ... quick and ... tough, Well, he figgered that he got pushed enough, The rebel (away!) Johnny Yuma Was a rebel, Johnny Yuma - Johnny Yuma!

He wore a Confederate cap and kept a journal.

Please email me directly. I sometimes forget all the posts I put here!

Hello, Rodney! I have the lyrics for that song in my songbook. Once I get it back from my brother-in-law, I'll let you know.

THE REBEL - JOHNNY YUMA
Words and music by Richard Markowitz & Andrew Fenady
As recorded by Johnny Cash on "Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash" (1963)

Intro: Away, away, away rode the Rebel, Johnny Yuma

CAPO: 1st FretKEY: BbPLAY: A

Johnny Yuma, was a Rebel, he roamed through the west
This Johnny Yuma, the Rebel, he wandered alone
He got fightin' mad, this Rebel lad
He packed no star as he wandered far
Where the only law was a hook and a draw
The Rebel, (away, away) Johnny (away) Yuma (rode the Rebel).

Johnny Yuma, was a Rebel, he roamed through the west
This Johnny Yuma, the Rebel, he wandered alone
He searched the land, this restless lad
He was panther quick and leather tough
And he figured he'd been pushed enough
The Rebel, (away, away) Johnny (away) Yuma (rode the Rebel);

CHANGE to [C] Johnny Yuma

Johnny Yuma was a Rebel, he roamed through the west
This Johnny Yuma, the Rebel, he wandered alone
Fightin' mad, this Rebel lad
With a dream he'd hold til his dyin' breath
He'd search his soul and gamble with death
The Rebel, (away, away) Johnny (away) Yuma (rode the Rebel).

TAG: Johnny Yuma.
