Subject: RE: With God on Our Side From: Little Hawk Date: 11 Mar 02 - 02:03 PM I recall in the Bible A long time ago God said to the Israelites You can have Jericho Though the people who live there now They may run, they may hide Find them and kill them all Cos God's on your side (above brand new verse written by my friend, Katie A.)
Then the Second World War, boys (that amended verse added by me) Lots of possibilities here... I've notice that in more recent times Dylan has dropped the "Second World War" verse altogether in live performances, so I gather he has become uncomfortable with it...I figured why not bring responsibility back home where it belongs, instead of fingering everybody's favourite bad guy, the Nazis, who were SOOOO bad that pointing it out yet one more time is rather akin, at this juncture, to yelling about water being wet... If you cannot overcome evil at home in your own community, you can forget about ever overcoming it abroad. - LH |
Subject: RE: With God on Our Side From: Dicho (Frank Staplin) Date: 11 Mar 02 - 01:10 PM Dylan took "The Patriot Game" for "With God on our side." Why not re-do it? A lot of Dylan is re-write of older material. Just be careful of his publishers-recording companies copyrights. |
