Subject: Copyright Question on 'sound bites' From: Kudzuman Date: 07 Jan 03 - 10:35 AM I've done a recording of a storyteller telling traditional African folk tales and she would like to add "buttons" between the stories. Little 20 to 30 seconds of music tracks just to break it up a bit. Here is the question: I have a recording of some Traditonal African music (tribal) but it was given to me by a person I was acquainted with from Africa and I have no idea where it was recorded or by what organization may have recorded it or if they own the copyrights. If I use 20 second bites for this recording would this be a no-no? Thanks for any advice here. Kudzuman |

The only exemption is that part of a piece (not more than 10%) may be reproduced for personal educational purposes (this does not include duplicating it for the use of others). :-) |
