Subject: Christy tuning for So do I From: Henrik W. Date: 09 Jun 04 - 04:36 PM Any 'catters who know what tuning Christy uses on "So do I"? I think he plays it in G (or A by using a capo on the second fret), but I can't figure the open tuning. |
Subject: RE: Christy tuning for So do I From: belfast Date: 11 Jul 04 - 08:58 AM I'm fairly sure that Christy Moore doesn't use any open tunings, but the sixth string (low E) is tuned up a semitone to F. I can imagine no possible advantage to this. If you watch him you will notice that to play a G chord, for example, he frets the sixth string at the second fret with his thumb. Apart from this piece of unnecessary weirdness he plays in standard concert tuning. |

Subject: RE: Christy tuning for So do I From: GUEST,John Fallon Date: 22 Nov 19 - 07:20 PM I have noticed that he puts capo on first fret and plays standard chords but he is in concert pitch so his guitar must be tuned down a half tone.Dont know what benefit that is . |
Subject: ADD So Do I (Wally Page)-as suing by Christy Moore From: Joe Offer Date: 22 Nov 19 - 09:11 PM Here's my transcription of the song. SO DO I (Wally Page - as sung by Christy Moore) This is the day the fishermen like And so do I When the rain puts a shine on the chestnut spikes Hear the curlews cry The nightingale sings her best We'll drink a pint in Hamilton's Rest And the girl I love wore a muslin dress And the fishermen dream of the sun in the west And so do I And so do I Now I can see Since the girl that I love dearly Has cast her loving spell on me This is the day the cuckoo likes And so do I When the hills fall down in different shapes And the swallows fly To a hidden beach where no boats go Mountain waters overflow I hear the squealin' of the seagulls As home they go And so do I And so do I Now I can see Since the girl that I love dearly Has cast her loving spell on me I'll cross the seven oceans And forevermore I'll wander 'Till she has cast her loving spell on me This is the day the fisherman likes And so do I When the rain puts a shine on the chestnut spikes Hear the curlews cry The nightingale sings her best We'll drink a pint in Hamilton's Rest And the girl I love wore a muslin dress And the fishermen dream of the sun in the west And so do I And so do I And so do I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8I7tX-Rk7M |
