Subject: Lyr Add: STORIES WE COULD TELL (John B. Sebastian) From: Barbara Date: 15 Mar 04 - 08:40 PM Are you thinking of this song? STORIES WE COULD TELL By: John B. Sebastian 1974 Talkin' to myself again Wonderin' if this travellin' is good Is there somethin' else a' doin' We'd be doin' if we could Chorus: But ah, the stories we could tell And if it all blows up and goes to Hell I wish that we could sit upon a bed in some motel Listen to the stories we could tell Stared at that guitar in that museum in Tennessee Nameplate on the glass brought back twenty melodies Scars upon the face told of all the times he fell Singin' all the stories he could tell Chorus: Ah, the stories he could tell And I'll bet you it still rings like a bell I wish that we could sit upon a bed in some motel And listen to the stories it could tell So if you're on the road trackin' down your every night Playin' for a livin' beneath brightly colored lights And if you ever wonder why you ride the carousel You do it for the stories you can tell Ah, the stories we could tell And if it all blows up and goes to Hell I wish that we could sit upon a bed in some motel Just listen to the stories we could tell Coda: Yes, I wish that we could sit upon a bed in some motel Listen to the stories it could tell Blessings, Barbara |

Subject: RE: Need Lyrics to Ian Tyson song: Stories He'd Tell From: Jim Dixon Date: 20 Mar 04 - 03:10 PM I found a sound sample at Barnes & Noble from which I transcribed this: STORIES HE'D TELL (Ian Tyson) ...price he paid, memories of old Dead soldier friends so long ago Was his faith so strong? Had he doubts that didn't show? Seeing life and death, had he learned what I don't know?... [As sung by Ian Tyson on the Ian & Sylvia album "Full Circle," MGM 1968; and on the compilation "Long Long Time," Vanguard CD 79478, 1994.] |

Subject: Lyr Add: STORIES HE'D TELL (Ian Tyson) From: GUEST,phil_hunt@nps.gov Date: 05 Oct 04 - 09:41 AM STORIES HE'D TELL (Ian Tyson) Rolling through the straits, rolling to the morning sun He's tell of leaving home, England oh when he was young Magic mountain's call caught him never let him go Was his faith so strong, had he doubts that didn't show Seeing life and death, had he learned what I don't know Memories of old dead soldier friends from long ago (TUNE CHANGES HERE) All along the shore, arbutus trees do grow And watching from their red limbs, kingfishers come and go And we'd watch them as they flew across the bay Late in the afternoon on salt rocks where we lay And the water turned to gold, and the day was through Going home he's asked me then what it was I hoped to do Sons of his drifty friends, all settlin' down And me in my aimless way, just a-ramblin' round ????? through windows and doors The life that he loved isn't his anymore But I think of him often, I remember him well Places he's bring me, stories he's tell. I always liked this - it was on one of those late 60's MGM albums I&S did. Mixed bags, but with some good stuff. This song almost has movements. I still follow Ian T, have seen him a few times since the mid 90's, and still try to "convert" unbelievers.
