Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: dilligafxx Date: 20 Apr 08 - 08:19 AM Bishop Gundulf will be at the Kings Arms on Wednesday 8pm Then on Saturday from 2pm dancing then those that can will sing when we,ve finished dancing and whoever can come and go as you please, OK It is always advisable to keep your intrument covered when not in use if outside, but if you are playing with it or have allowed someone else to play with it it is best out, to reiterate what Don said. Me thinks xx |

Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Girl Friday Date: 23 Apr 08 - 07:04 PM Well, we went along to help Don out on the afternoon shift today. Unfortunately, Trev's blue guitar, which works best outdoors, got a broken machine head last night, and the Dean just wasn't up to it. We soldiered on, but retired, when the evening shift started to arrive. Will probably do the afternoon on Saturday will bring reinforcements. Sue xxxx |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: GUEST, Richard Bridge Date: 24 Apr 08 - 02:37 AM Shall I bring my pot of spare machine heads, if I remember? |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 24 Apr 08 - 04:36 AM Amongst that pot of bits, you wouldn't perchance have assorted spare bushes, would you Richard. Chances are we won't find one to fit, but I've been looking for a tool head bush for several years. Even Framus don't have them. Don T. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: GUEST, Richard Bridge Date: 24 Apr 08 - 06:25 AM I doubt whether I have any that size. But I will try to rationalise my stock and bring what I have (unless I forget). Have you tried Stewart-MacDonald in the USA? |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: growler Date: 24 Apr 08 - 07:59 AM Bloody good evening, will try to make Saturday but not looking likely |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: GUEST, Richard Bridge Date: 24 Apr 08 - 08:49 AM How were your trousers? |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Girl Friday Date: 24 Apr 08 - 12:33 PM Thanks Richard. Do bring spares. the broken one is a Grover- I bought him a set for Christmas. One is going back to Cleveland Ohio soon. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Mick Woods Date: 24 Apr 08 - 01:08 PM What has all this stuff about a broken Deep Purple album on 24th got to do with George? |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 24 Apr 08 - 06:07 PM Yes Richard, That was one of the possibles suggested by Framus, but they were unable to help. Framus seem to have used a decidedly non-standard size. Don T |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: GUEST, Richard Bridge Date: 24 Apr 08 - 06:59 PM Ah - Grovers. Could be tricky. I think I ahve some Schaller copies that might fit. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Kev The Clogs Date: 24 Apr 08 - 07:13 PM All a bit techie for me folks!!! A bloody good night was had by all I would say!! Glad you enjoyed it Growler - good to see you! Thanks to all of Bishop Gundulf for turning up - also thanks to our guests, Gong Scourers and Copperfield Clog. Thanks to Don et al for the early evening shift. Thanks to Growler and The Shirt Murderer for keeping the evening session going (Bishop Gundulf did a good job too!!) - Thanks to Rob and Ris for letting us take over their pub for the evening!! Think I've covered everybody!!?? OK, it just needs to be said that it will all be repeated!! Yes, repeated, this weekend!! Beer festival and some singinging on Friday night - Bishop Gundulf Morris on Saturday afternoon at 2pm followed by lots of drinking and singing and playing and drinking and singing and playing and ..... you get the idea I'm sure!!!! See you there on Saturday night (can't make Friday night as we are at The Crown in Otford to see Crooked Style - very good double act!!) Bye for now Kev |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: GUEST, Richard Bridge Date: 25 Apr 08 - 03:25 AM Regrettably, due to that continuing problem with some of my teeth that some of you know about, I am now on a course of taking both ampicillin and metronidazole. Metronidazole is closely related to the basic components of antabuse, the drug used to prevent alcoholics from drinking (some might say there was some justice in there). The relationship of metronidazole with alcohol can be summarised: - "Consuming ethanol (alcohol) while using metronidazole causes a disulfiram-like reaction with effects that can include nausea, vomiting, flushing of the skin, tachycardia (accelerated heart rate), shortness of breath, and even death.[5] Consumption of alcohol should be avoided by patients during systemic metronidazole therapy and for at least 24 hours after completion of treatment.[1] However, the mechanism of this reaction in the clinical setting has recently been questioned by some authors,[6][7] and a possible central toxic seratonin reaction for the alcohol intolerance suggested.[8]" I am therefore off alcohol - although the course will be over in time for me to drink on the 1st May and at Sweeps. So I may well not be very jovial company on Friday or Saturday. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Kev The Clogs Date: 25 Apr 08 - 05:29 AM That's normal :-) Only kidding Hoff!! Hope you feel better soon. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: GUEST, Richard Bridge Date: 25 Apr 08 - 06:00 AM Correction, not Ampicillin, Amocycillin |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: GUEST,Essex Girl Date: 25 Apr 08 - 09:06 AM Richard, is that the stuff that turns your urine very bright yellow? If so do not under any circumstances drink alcohol. Hope to make it Saturday. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: melodeonboy Date: 25 Apr 08 - 09:25 AM A tool head bush, Don? Now that sounds really rude (SNARFF, SNARFF!). I had a great time on Wednesday (as did Growler). Thanks to all concerned. I shall try to get over again this weekend. Melodeonboy (aka The Shirt Murderer) |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Girl Friday Date: 25 Apr 08 - 09:56 AM Yes, that's the stuff that turns your urine yellow. Speak from experience. Unfortunately it also brings me out in an itchy red rash so I don't take ant penicillin based drugs now. Richard will be ok as long as nobody even offers him a pint, so don't. Trevor has some replacement heads that are nameless, but thry look like Grovers. He's going to put one on later, and see if it works, otherwise we'll try your Schallers Richard, thanks. See you sll tomorrow, weather's going to be ace. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 25 Apr 08 - 01:08 PM Sorry folks. I've just arrived home to find my wife in bed, shivering, vomiting, and all the other things you do when you connect with a nasty bug, so I will for this evening be conspicuous by my absence. All that ARE gong, have a great evening. I will be over tomorrow afternoon. Don (disappointed) T |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: mumblin len Date: 25 Apr 08 - 02:02 PM Thanks Richard, I've found a head off an old strat that fits, although it turns counterwise, that will do until I manage to get a replacement from Grover (anyone know what the turnaround time is postwise to Ohio?). I'm back in business and looking forward to tomorrow. hope your Hampsteads are feeling better anyway. - Len |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: GUEST, Richard Bridge Date: 25 Apr 08 - 06:21 PM Oh, Amoxycillin's all right. The bugger is teh metronidazole. My dentist, who is a moslem, likes to give me some before the highlights of the folk drinking season, to prevent me drinking alcohol. I think she plans to convert me in due course. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Girl Friday Date: 27 Apr 08 - 04:44 PM How did today go ? We were thinking of you in the rather inclement weather today. Although it rained this afternoon, we had to have the doors open at the White Hart because the landlord has still got the C. H. on full blast. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Girl Friday Date: 18 May 08 - 06:31 AM Thanks again for the tuning head Richard, have now got a replacement from Grover (2 weeks turnaround - not too shabby from the Banks of the Ohio!) I have your spare head in my guitar bag - remind me when we meet again. Mumblin Len |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: melodeonboy Date: 18 May 08 - 07:10 AM "I have your spare head in my guitar bag" Blimey, that's frightening, even by TDL's standards! I'd better make sure my doors are locked at night! (By the way, is it any better-looking than the main one?) |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Richard Bridge Date: 18 May 08 - 02:05 PM Impossible! |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Girl Friday Date: 18 May 08 - 04:50 PM Oi think it moight be 'is drinkin' 'ead. Aunt Sally. |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Richard Bridge Date: 19 May 08 - 02:43 AM The other loose end to update from that event is whether Don succeeded in getting the odd-sized ferrule onto his guitar to replace the missing one. Does anyone know? |
Subject: RE: St. Georges day-Upnor, Kent UK From: Girl Friday Date: 20 May 08 - 11:24 AM Len asked him last night. The answe is no, but Brian Rodgers has offered to sort it for him. |
