Subject: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: Rabbi-Sol Date: 04 May 08 - 06:20 PM From www.braunsteinspeaks.com Although I do not agree with what he has to say, you do have to admire his colorful witticisms and the way in which he expresses himself. He is the Rush Limbaugh of the blogosphere. SOL The 'Pussy' Party I think that it is best for all the children, the infirm, and the limp-wristed to leave the room. This one is going to be rough. This column is definitely not for the faint of heart. Despite the title, this is not an essay about young cats; neither is it an essay about promiscuous sex. It is an essay that explores where the Democratic Party stands today—and where we all stand as Americans—in a world fraught with new dangers that many of us either can't see—or pretend don't exist. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." Mr. Emerson's point was that intelligent people consider each new challenge for what it is, and not reach for the old solutions. The military refers to this tendency as, "Generals are always prepared to fight the last war." Today's name for this society-killing disease is "political correctness," and we are positively awash in it. Political correctness is the cowards' excuse to do nothing that might rock the boat. All politicians are cowards. It seems to be a condition of the breed, no matter which party they represent. The Democratic Party, however, has absolutely lost its will to represent the American People. They have adopted a philosophy of lying to the voters, lest the voters find out the Democrats' true mission. Bill Clinton was especially skilful when it came to lying to the American People, and thus was able to serve two full terms as president, a feat not accomplished by a Democrat since Franklin Roosevelt served three full terms, and was elected to a fourth, before he died in 1945. The two surviving Democratic ex-presidents—Clinton and the idiot Carter—are both embarrassments to this nation. Being called a "pussy" is not a statement implying gender; it is a statement implying weakness. Jimmy Carter, who was thought to be a man, was a weakling; while Margaret Thatcher, Golda Meir, and Indira Gandhi—all women—were all strong leaders of their respective nations. A strong leader doesn't attempt to lie his way out of trouble—as Bill Clinton does—or cry her way out of trouble, wearing a pretty pink frock—as Hillary Clinton still does. Today, the Democratic Party gives us Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, each bitch-slapping the other over their petty differences about how weak each can be in the office of President of the United States. Which one can pull out of Iraq faster? Which one promises more "free" health care that someone else will have to pay for? Which one can best buy votes, and thus, spend us into oblivion more quickly? In their quest for the uneducated white vote in Indiana and North Carolina, which one of the two loves guns more? Which one would more gladly die on the cross of the Second Amendment? Which of these two moral cowards is more like an evil Republican? Which one secretly admires Ronald Reagan? If any Democratic candidate for office actually stated what he—or she—really believed, not only would that candidate never be elected, but he would probably be lynched! It really doesn't matter which of these two Democratic candidates gets the nomination. What matters is what happens in November. Vote as if your very future depends on it—because it does. |

Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: Amos Date: 04 May 08 - 06:27 PM This is complete horsepucky and floats completely free of ground truth. Why would you want to forward such vacuous rhetorical flaming? Witticisms? I see none. Even the Republicans can come up with more wit than this. Just because someone can get het up and blow off a lot of steam in slashing language to denigrate someone else, without genuine insight, without regard to particular issues, in a fit of nounless, un-analytical pique, does not make him worth paying attention to, Reb. Surely, even you know this much. A |

Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: pdq Date: 04 May 08 - 06:34 PM Both of the remaining Democrats are barely fit to hold public office. Even Joe Lieberman is campaigning for John McCain. He will be a good president if he just tries to run a responsible government and does not attempt to make wholesale changes to creat a legacy. |

Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: Peace Date: 04 May 08 - 06:42 PM Legacy: there is so MUCH of that in politics, isn't there? |

Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: Don Firth Date: 04 May 08 - 07:58 PM "Even Joe Lieberman is campaigning for John McCain." Even Joe Lieberman? Well, I would hardly expect Joe Lieberman to be bucking for Dennis Kucinich! Joe Lieberman, the Democratic candidate for Vice-President in 2000 who lost the primary when running for re-election as Senator, so he ran as an Independent--but who looks like a Republican, walks like a Republican, and quacks like a Republlcan. At this point in history, it would surprise the hell out of me if he supported anybody but McCain. "Even Joe Lieberman," indeed!! Don Firth |

Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: GUEST,Chief Chaos Date: 04 May 08 - 08:30 PM Please! Six years in control of Congress and eight years in the Whitehouse and the Republicans have done nothing about "Political Correctness", something I had sincerely hoped they would do! As far as lying to the public and not representing the people, the current administration must have just become infected with it when they entered the whitehouse. Mr. Vice President, the public at large does not like the way the administration is handling things. Cheney: So? |

Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 04 May 08 - 08:41 PM I couldn't spot the witticisms in this grumpy polemic either. Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: CarolC Date: 04 May 08 - 10:21 PM Braunstein is a pussy (and an asshole). If he had any guts at all, he would have pointed that finger at both parties, because they're both guilty of lying to the voters for their own selfish purposes. |

Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: GUEST,dianavan Date: 04 May 08 - 11:50 PM The problem is, of course, if you want to be elected (whether you are Republican or Democrat) you must give the public what they want via the media. Its our job to determine which candidate most closely mirrors our own values. I do not like to see Democrats flinging mud at each other but by the time the primaries are over, the Republicans won't have much mud left, to sling. Of course, there will always be those who prefer the conservative approach which includes no meaningful change at all. I think most people fear change. What a pity. |
Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: Rabbi-Sol Date: 04 May 08 - 11:55 PM Jack, In the original post I clearly stated that I did not agree with the opinions being expressed in the post. If you are interested in MY opinion I have already stated in other threads that I am for Hillary all the way. As a registered Democrat and resident of New Yor State I voted for her as my senator twice. I also voted for her in the Democratic primary (which she won) and I intend to vote for her in November if she is the nominee. SOL |
Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: Little Hawk Date: 05 May 08 - 08:51 AM Yes, most people fear change. That's what the term "conservative" refers to: the reluctance to change anything. Most people are naturally conservative to a considerable extent...they will only opt for change willingly when they are really bored, fed up, or just downright desperate. And if you've ever had dogs as pets, you might note that they are even more conservative than most people are! ;-) Example: Our dachshunds, being miniatures, and being overweight, have great difficulty climbing the three back steps to get in the house. So I built them a ramp. Will they use it? NO! They will not even try. I have tried putting them on the ramp and pushing them up or down it. They struggle and leap off the edge...then go back to the steps and face the usual struggle there. I have tried luring them up the ramp (which has a very gentle slope) with food. No dice. They attempt to reach the food from the side of the ramp, but will not go up or down it. I have tried blocking off the fucking steps with a barrier so they can't get in at all without using the ramp. No dice. They stand outside and yell for hours, but they won't go up the ramp. Nor will they go down it. Unbelievable. They are extreme conservatives. |
Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: JohnInKansas Date: 05 May 08 - 02:16 PM Lttle Hawk - It is "well known" that an elephant will refuse to step on anything that won't bear its weight. Your ramp is likely unsafe (you probably built it your self?), and you have mistaken miniature ELEPHANTS for miniature dachshunds. (It's a common problem, much like when people mistake any "candidate for public office" for a "representative for the people.") It's probably that you were mislead by the "sound bites" they produced in their campaign to be taken in and supported by you. (There's that similarity again.) John |
Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 05 May 08 - 02:47 PM Could it be your dachshunds have the same little difficulty Les Barker wrote about, Little Hawk?? |
Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: Little Hawk Date: 05 May 08 - 05:21 PM Naw...these poor little guys had their knicknacks removed at an early age. They don't get erections, and they don't even know what they're missing...but they attempt to fill the void with food. John, the ramp will bear MY weight, and I weigh considerably more than those dachshunds do. Trust me, the little canine idiots are on autopilot, that's all. They WILL NOT do anything differently than they have done it in the past. Like I said, they are very conservative. Solid rock between the floppy ears. |
Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: Little Hawk Date: 05 May 08 - 05:36 PM By the way, they are also extreme cowards. They won't use the ramp because they are afraid to, never having done it before (of their own free will, that is). They would rather risk a slipped disk or a sprained ankle on the steep cement steps than amble gently up a 10 degree, carpeted slope. |
Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: CarolC Date: 05 May 08 - 07:15 PM You should go to the sporting goods store, LH, and get some deer scent (that they use for luring bucks during hunting season), and dribble or spray (or whatever) some of it up the center of the ramp. That might fix it for you. Alternatively, you could go out and kill a rabbit, or go to the pet store and buy a mouse or a rat and kill it, then cut open the carcass and drag it up the ramp. That might do it. You might even be able to drag a live critter up the ramp and get some results instead of killing it. |
Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: GUEST,Chief Chaos Date: 05 May 08 - 07:25 PM LH - I know you say the doodads have been removed but getting scent from a female dog that's in heat and dabbing it up the ramp might get them to sniff their way up it. |

Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: DougR Date: 05 May 08 - 07:56 PM Who can blame Lieberman for backing McCain after what the Democrat party did to him during his last run for the Senate as a Democrat. They crapped on him. He was right when he said that he didn't leave the Democrat Party, the Party left him when it became a tool of the left wingers in the Party. As to the mudslinging, I for one, am enjoying it. Hillery and Obama are eating each other up. The main objective seems to be which one of them can out lie the other. DougR |

They can't have membership in their club if they don't. So maybe ol' Joe should run as an independent instead of being a tool of the right wingers? He's always been a tool of the "right wingers", even when he was a "Democrat". Becoming an independent won't change anything. |

Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: GUEST,Chief Chaos Date: 05 May 08 - 08:56 PM It just astounds me that he's willing to abandon the centrist Democrats who elected him and help elect what most of us see as a somewhat to the left of far right candidate instead of running himself. |

Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: GUEST,Arkie Date: 06 May 08 - 04:23 PM I am astounded. How can someone only spot liars who claim to be a democrat. One lie embedded the country in an infinite and an unproductive war (unless one happens to be engaged in the petroleum industry). Why is that lie so hard to see?. I do agree with one thing quoted above. Vote as if your future depends on it. The remainder was just mindless blowing that could be applied to many politicians of either party and contributed nothing to anyone's understanding of anything. |
Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: Little Hawk Date: 06 May 08 - 07:12 PM You know what? Your future doesn't depend on it! Not as far as I'm concerned. Some candidate's future depends on it. You've got it backwards if you think your future depends on it. Your future depends on one thing and only one thing: yourself. Don't give these blasted politicians or their stupid system more importance than they or it deserve. You are the one who makes of your life a triumph, a tragedy, or something partway in between...regardless of the machinations and chicanery of some wretched government that supposedly rules over you. You have the power (over yourself and your destiny). They don't. You don't need them. They need you. They need all of us, collectively. That's why they try so damned hard to get our votes and keep us childlike and dependent for our whole lives. "Just trust the Great White Father in Washington (or Whitehall...or Moscow...or Paris). Big Daddy knows what's best for you." That's what they'd like you to believe from the time you're in Grade 1, lined up dutifully to salute the flag, and most people do believe it. They want a herd of sheep. Sheep are obedient. And most of the time, that's exactly what they get, a herd of sheep. |

Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: CarolC Date: 06 May 08 - 10:57 PM Easy for you to say, LH. You have universal health care. |
Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: GUEST,Arkie Date: 07 May 08 - 03:56 PM Republican administrations in the most recent decades have tended to leave the economy and the general state of affairs in worse condition that they found them. National debt has increased, no energy policy, no planning for the future and now with mounting debt, declining dollar and still no energy solutions in sight, I cannot help but worry a bit what lies ahead for retired folk like me with modest savings and for my children. Yes, we can have some influence on what lies ahead, but the USA has tended to be better off with periodic changes in government. |
Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: Little Hawk Date: 07 May 08 - 06:11 PM Oh, I'm not saying don't vote, Carol. ;-) I'm not saying don't campaign. I'm not saying it doesn't matter who you vote for. I'm just philosophizing about how people tend to see themselves in regards to the ruling power structures around them, how powerless they tend to become in so doing, and saying that people have to find their real power in themselves if they are to be truly free. It's a different way of looking at the situation. |
Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: CarolC Date: 08 May 08 - 01:29 AM I understand. What I was responding to was your comment that my future doesn't depend on the outcome of the election. For people without any access to health care, their futures could very well depend on the outcome of the election. |
Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: Amos Date: 08 May 08 - 02:45 AM In fact -- like it or not -- our future as a group, nationally, does depend on who gets into the White House. The number of grim personal stories in this country that started from the moment when Bush came into office is a great deal more than it would have been if he had been soundly defeated. A |
Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: Little Hawk Date: 08 May 08 - 09:07 AM Perhaps...although I have learned from past US administrations that the Democrats have a surprising ability of their own to move forward the great global military-industrial agenda known in some circles as the New American Century. Still, I'd have to agree that nothing else has quite matched the Bush-Cheney cabal in that respect. So far. My bet, though, is that Hillary could outdo them if she got the chance. I think she'd go to war with absolute gusto, and make Maggie Thatcher look tame in the long run. I'm just guessing when I say that. I may be doing her a disservice. Still, I don't trust the woman any farther than I can throw a 10,000 pound anvil. I've never trusted her since she turned down my 85th attempt to set up a dinner date with just her and me at that cozy little bistro in Atlantic City... Nope. The glow is off the rose. ;-) |

Subject: RE: BS: An Anti Democratic Party Rant From: GUEST,Arkie Date: 08 May 08 - 11:08 AM I have no great affection for politicians of either party but republicans seem to row on one side of the boat and democrats row on the other and it is necessary to change course periodically. When Bill and Hillary were in Arkansas, it was often said she would have been a better governor than Bill. All that really means is that there were those who thought she had some management ability but she was also respected in the state. I would not expect her to do as much damage as Bush. I do think that either Obama or Clinton would put together a decent staff and would weigh all options. Those on the Bush staff who expressed contrary opinions or feedback were replaced. |
