Subject: RE: Lyr Req: thanksgiving song wanted From: Karolina Date: 22 Oct 00 - 02:00 PM Thanks, Leeneia! Good job. The next step will be to get the chords to this song. It's really a nice one. I promise to post the chords if I get someone to write 'em. I can't :^o Karolina |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: thanksgiving song wanted From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 22 Oct 00 - 09:55 AM I bet that that was supposed to be "the sight of a high-ballin' train," where highball is a verb meaning that a train is travelling at top speed. If I were singing this song, I would change "the blue in your eyes" to "the love in your eyes." I have too many nieces with beautiful brown eyes to promulgate the theory that blue eyes are the ticket. (Folk process.) |
Subject: Lyr Add: THE THANKSGIVING PRAYER (Johnny Cash) From: Karolina Date: 22 Oct 00 - 03:44 AM Daniel, if by any chance you're checking this thread after such a long time, here are the lyrics to the song. I might have made some mistakes while transcribing them. I recorded it some time ago straight from the TV, using a voice recorder, so the quality of the recording is rather poor. Anyway, this is what I got from it. Hope somebody'll correct me. THANKSGIVING PRAYER As performed by Johnny Cash on the TV series, "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman", Season 3, Episode 4, "Thanksgiving", 1994. We've come to the time in the season When family and friends gather near To offer a prayer of thanksgiving For blessings we've known through the year, To join hands and thank the Creator Now when thanksgivin' is due, And this year when I count my blessin's, I'm thankin' the Lord He made you. This year when I count my blessin's, I'm thankin' the Lord He made you. I'm grateful for the laughter of children, The sun and the wind and the rain, The color of blue in your sweet eyes, The sight of a highballin' train, The moonrise over a prairie, And old love that you've made new, And this year when I count my blessin's, I'm thankin' the Lord He made you. This year when I count my blessin's, I'm thankin' the Lord He made you. And when the time comes to be goin', It won't be in sorrow and tears. I'll kiss you goodbye and I'll go on the way, Grateful for all of the years. I thank you for all that you gave me, For teachin' me what love can do, And Thanksgivin' Day for the rest of my life, I'm thankin' the Lord He made you. Thanksgivin' Day for the rest of my life, I'm thankin' the Lord He made you. Karolina |

Subject: thanksgiving song wanted From: GUEST,Daniel Date: 29 Sep 00 - 05:05 AM HI out there ! I´m searching for a song i heard in the tv series "Dr. Quinn - Medicine woman" . It was sung by Johnny Cash, and it was a thanks giving song. i can remember some lines. the beginning was something like "we´ve come to this time in this season, when family and friends ...???? and then there was a chorus that ended always with "I´m thanking the Lord he made you". Who can tell me if somebody recorded this song(cause i couldn´t find a recording by Johnny Cash!)? can someone tell me the lyrics? Waiting for answer, Daniel |
