Watched Ab Fab last night and it had Marianne Faithful playing God and singing a song with the words"Never drive through Paris with the warm wind in her hair". about being 41 and not doing the things you thought you would. I know the tune and would love the lyrics please, if anyone can help?

Was this a new episode?

If so, it may take a while for the lyrics to be posted on a website.

The Ab Fab site www.abfab.com has a message board, but the site doesn't seem to be working at the moment.

When it's up and running again, that might be a good place to ask.

Sorry, ignore the above, I'd assumed it was a song written especially for the programme.

I believe you can find what you want by Clicking Here

I believe this is still available by Dr. Hook and it is a far superior version. They seemed to have a way with Silverstein songs.

Subject: Lyr Add: THE BALLAD OF LUCY JORDAN (Silverstein)
From: Michael in Swansea

THE BALLAD OF LUCY JORDAN

The morning sun touched lightly on
The eyes of Lucy Jordan
In her white suburban bedroom
In a white suburban town
As she lay there 'neath the covers
Dreaming of a thousand lovers
Till the world turned to orange
And the room went spinning 'round.

At the age of 37
She realized she'd never ride
Through Paris in a sports car
With the warm wind in her hair
So she let the phone keep ringing
And she sat there, softly singing
Little nursery rhymes she'd memorized
In her daddy's easy chair.

Her husband is off to work
And the kids are off to school
And there were, oh, so many ways
For her to spend the day
She could clean the house for hours
Or rearrange the flowers
Or run naked through the shady streets
Screaming all the way!

At the age of 37
She realized she'd never ride
Through Paris in a sports car
With the warm wind in her hair
So she let the phone keep ringing
As she sat there, softly singing
Little nursery rhymes she'd memorized
In her daddy's easy chair.

The evening sun touched gently on
The eyes of Lucy Jordan
On the roof top, where she climbed
When all the laughter grew too loud
And she bowed and curtsied to the man
Who reached and offered her his hand
And he led her down to the long white car
That waited past the crowd.

At the age of 37
She knew she'd found forever
As she rolled along through Paris
With the warm wind in her hair.

Ah, I think it's probably good you posted it, Michael. Who's the songwriter - Silverstein?
Where did you find the lyrics?
I'm not going to harvest it for the Digital Tradition, but it's good to have it here. I see that you also put ADD and the song title in your message title, which makes it more searchable. Would that others would follow your example...

I was talking to someone on here the other day and for the life of me now cannot find who, who was unfamiliar with this brilliant song by Silverstein - I knew it would be on here somewhere. So, whoever you were, enjoy!

It featured heavily in Dusan Makevejev's film-Montenegro.

I could be wrong,but I think it's on her album-Broken English.

Great song....Great Lady!

David

Marianne Faithfull is indeed a Great lady, David. She does my favourote version of the song and it is indeed on 'Broken English'. The one mentioned in the OP was a parody done for Ab Fab and was very funny. I once wrote a parody of it as well but I am not sure what happened to it. I even discussed it with someone who later denied any knowledge of it so be careful near this song. The madness may be catching:-)
