What a nice surprise! I received my Feb-April 2002 issue of Dulcimer Players News and there, gracing the cover, was a smiling Sandy and Caroline Paton.

Heidi Cerrigione of Doofus Music did an excellent interview with the Patons, whose Folk-Legacy Records is a treasure trove of music not heard elsewhere often enough. (Visit Folk Legacy here.) Also included is dulcimer tab and score for "Perrie Merrie Dixi", a variation of the "riddle song" that ws published by Eloise Hubbard Linscott in Folk Songs of Old New England in 1939, which Sandy played the night he and Caroline met at a concert in Berkeley.

The Patons have traveled widely, collecting, studying, performing, and preserving the old songs. Thank you, Sandy and Caroline, for passing the legacy along.

(The newest issue of Dulcimer Players News with this interview isn't up yet, but you can check out past issues at their home site if you choose.)

Blush!!! Was so enthused about the interview with Sandy and Caroline, I forgot to mention that there is, in that same issue, a short article about Jean Ritchie's performance at the Kentucky Folklife Festival on September 29th!

Sorry about that, Jean!
