Subject: Lyr Req: O Sole Mio From: GUEST,The Fantum Date: 20 Jan 03 - 08:24 PM Right everyone here is this weeks initiative test Does anyone have the lyrics to Les Barkers song "O Sole Mio." Thats not the operatic aria its the parody about fish. Same tune different words. I have tried transcribing from his CD "Tubular Dogs" but despite a lot of effort the words elude me. I am not sure I can sing the thing and how it will be greeted in a folk club singaround but I can take a view on that if I can get the words. Might be unusal an operatic aria in a folk club. What do you think? Many thanks The Fantum |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: O Sole Mio From: Alice Date: 20 Jan 03 - 08:33 PM The range of the song is not that challenging... just start low enough for your voice so you can hit the notes at the end. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: O Sole Mio From: crankyyankee1 Date: 21 Jan 03 - 09:03 PM it's not an operatic aria, it's a love song, maybe the most beautiful ever written. It's not in Italian, it's in "Napolitan" similar to Italian. That is, it's written in the Naples dialect. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: O Sole Mio From: GUEST,Giannina Date: 21 Jan 03 - 10:10 PM If you think the tune is really challenging to sing, just remember that not only did Elvis do it ("It's Now Or Never"), but tons of popular songs have been set to this tune, and lots of garden-variety singers sing them.
