Subject: RE: help clog irons urgently needed for Sidmouth From: GUEST,JohnB Date: 18 Jul 03 - 12:58 PM A friend of ours in Toronto dances with the Belles of York. I do some forged ironwork in my Laid Off periods. She has asked me a couple of times now to iron her clogs, it's just that we have not managed to get together yet. Anyone know if there are nspecific styles, material thicknesses, good/bad nails patterns etc. etc. Sorry I can't do yours in time for Sidmouth, unless you have LOTS of money for the bus fare. JohnB |
Subject: RE: help clog irons urgently needed for Sidmouth From: GUEST,JohnB Date: 14 Aug 03 - 04:40 PM Hope you got your clogs ironed in time. I now have about three or four sets of clogs to iron. Anyone out there got any answers or do I just rediscover old technology yet again? JohnB |
Subject: RE: help clog irons urgently needed for Sidmouth From: mouldy Date: 15 Aug 03 - 05:38 AM You used to be able to get them from Walter Hurst at Hindley, but now I think he's retired, I'm not sure what the situation is. The address is 2 Wigan Rd, Hindley, but I am not sure if the new people have kept the name. What size do you need, cos I used to have an odd pair of size 7 irons hanging about in the garage (no promises, not sure whether they're duck or common toe - probably common - and I'm going to be away at Whitby all next week; but if they're there I should more than likely have the nails too). Subject: RE: help clog irons urgently needed for Sidmouth From: GUEST,JohnB Date: 16 Aug 03 - 02:02 PM Being a Blacksmith, I was looking at making the irons myself. What I am not sure of is how thick, shape, section, number, size and position of nail holes. Things like that, (what is duck or commom toe?) any chance of a picture of them ? Thanks for the help anyhow, JohnB. |
