Subject: Another Sidmouth Thread From: Torctgyd Date: 08 Feb 05 - 10:30 AM Why is there all this vitriol on this messageboard about Sidmouth? One organiser has pulled out. So What! If the locals don't want the festival then they should get the local council to stop it, after all unless I missed it on the news England still is a democracy and this debate should be carried out in public not amongst a few interested parties that log on to mudcat! If the majority locals do want it then the few that don't won't make it go away posting their vitriol on this board. If, on the other hand, someone posts a message containing the latest updates that may contain bad news for the 'pro' camp that is no excuse to sling mud because you don't want to hear it. |
Subject: RE: Another Sidmouth Thread From: GUEST,Thin Lizzy Date: 08 Feb 05 - 11:43 AM Well said! It could be argued that the East Devon District Council is trying to stop it. They've cut their annual grant to the festival from £60,000 last year to nothing this year. And if they read all the nonsense and vitriol from supposed-supporters of the festival elsewhere on mudcat then they'd probably offer even less than zero! |
