Subject: Looking for Archie Fisher From: Kudzuman Date: 03 Aug 03 - 12:22 PM Hi all, anyone know an email for Archie Fisher? We would like to record one of his songs and want to ask his permission. We have very limited CD sales and I doubt the Harry Fox Agency would even deal with us. We're talking less than a 100 a year here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Kudzuman |

Subject: RE: Looking for Archie Fisher From: GUEST Date: 03 Aug 03 - 02:01 PM You don't need permission to record a song which has already been recorded. You should contact the MCPS and get a form from them. |
Subject: RE: Looking for Archie Fisher From: Clinton Hammond Date: 03 Aug 03 - 02:12 PM You don't NEED permission, but it's polite to ask anyway... :-) |
Subject: RE: Looking for Archie Fisher From: Jim McLean Date: 04 Aug 03 - 10:35 AM It's not impolite not to ask. Most (all?) writers are delighted to have their songs covered but more delighted to receive credits and money! It would be impossible to ask every writer of songs on your CD and that's where the MCPS come in (Guest's posting) as they will eventually notify the writer. Cheers, Jim Mclean |

Subject: RE: Looking for Archie Fisher From: Willie-O Date: 04 Aug 03 - 09:26 PM I got his e-mail addy a couple of years ago and will PM it to you. W-O |
Subject: RE: Looking for Archie Fisher From: Margret RoadKnight Date: 05 Aug 03 - 04:12 AM Jim McLean is correct. Speaking as a non-writing singer about to release my 11th album, it's impossible to clear songs individually.... just credit the composers & pay 'em (through your local clearing house - AMCOS here in Australia). However, if the song hasn't been recorded or published already, you'll definitely need the writer's permission |
