Happy Birthday!

About the best revival ballad singer ever
(Including so many great ones),

Peter Bellamy

was born

9/8/1944

He was born in Bournemouth, England. The son of a farm bailiff, he was brought up near Wells next-the-Sea in Norfolk. Bellamy's last gig was Sept. 2, 1991 and his suicide Sept. 24th. (Per notes in the CD, "Wake the Vaulted Echoes" and see bio at From Dirty Linen #37) It may be the dates given are those when he was last seen alive and when his body was found, ie that it is uncertain when he actually died.)

It's the alleged birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary too.

It's also mine and Manitas' 15th wedding anniversary today ...

LtS- get out- quick! Anything over 15 years it becomes impossible to disolve in any practical manner. Just think of how to divide the books & CDs! Inertia sets in and soon no divorce lawer will touch it for less that $200,000.

This is probably your last chance. I speak from sad experience.

Get out!

Amen to the Bellamy listing. Of all the singers I have known and who are no more, I miss him most.

Hadn't realised his birthday was so close to mine (PB 8th Sept, me 9th)

Alan

....and Liz - take no notice of this guy - he can't even spell dissolve, and thinks Bellamy could sing!

Peter Bellamy was just four days younger than me and I too miss him terribly . . . for his music certainly but most of all for the arguments. Nobody could argue like Peter, just for the sake of it.

My very favourite singer, bar none. It's a shame I never got to meet him.
Time to give "Mr Kipling" another spin.

I passed up on a Bellamy gig at a festival 1991 as the friends I was with were dancers and I could see him anytime. Something I have always regretted.
