I know exactly how Pete must be feeling.
Please pass on my best to him, and eyes will be peeled down here in London and the South East.
Ralph Jordan.

Pete didn't give me the serial numbers, however I do know that the Cairdin is marked somewhere only a Melodeon Fixer would know.

As to where it happend I think it was in Coventry but will have to check with him to find out for certain.

Thanks all for the responses I will pass on you thoughts. See some of you ant Banbury.

GM

The thread's listed at the top (AAlan Bell stolen concertina) That had a happy ending thanks to mudcatters and Mark at Hobgoblin. Serial numbers do help!

This is Dreadful News! Awful for Pete! Where's capital punishment when you need it?

On a more hopeful note I heard recently that a stolen concertina has been reunited with it's owner after going walkabout for a few months. I'm pretty sure there was a thread here with lots of useful advice when it was stolen, but I can't find that thread now. So there is hope!

If you want to know about Pete look here

Pete came on tour around NZ with the Northumbrian pipers in January.
He's a great guy, a good musician and a real character.
I hope his boxes turn up soon.
Robyn

I know good taste should prevail..
and this is probably not the right place for lighthearted humour..

but i cant avoid visualising the pathetic image of a low life junkie trying to smoke crack
out of a melodeon

That database was a good idea, but it needs to be maintained properly (and doesn't work in older browsers). Sad to see it filling up with undeleted spam and other junk already.

To echo Greg; if you really want to be helpful, then please give full details of the time and location of the theft, and tell us who Pete Grassby is and how to contact him. Serial numbers of the instruments would also be potentially useful.

Greetings,

a lot of UK members will know Pete Grassby the Melodeon repairer. Recently Pete had his van broken into and two instruments were stolen.
A Cardin 2 1/2 row 12bass G/D Melodeon in a black and aluminium case along with a black rucksack containing a Pokerwork D/G.

He said it looked like an opprtunist crime in which case these instruments might end up in a hedge or a secondhand dealers.

If you hear or see anything of these boxes or suspect that you know where they are please let me know.

I dont need to point ot that losing something as personal as a musical instrument is traumatic so if you see Pete hugs and appropriate libations will be welcome.

GM
