Been tied up in a Sea Revels show & with getting ready for the NEFFA festival that just passed I haven't been around much lately. I saw the post about Catspaw's illness but at 2:30 pm responding would've shorted circuited what little hardware there was left in me. Now I check back in & he's on the mend, that's so great. I've been trying to put a tape of sea stuff together for Joe, I'll make a copy so now both you & Joe can be sick. Sandy's CD will will revieve you Catspaw but there'll be no help for Joe. Don't let Sandy get you thinking it's no big deal, he & Caroline have been passing music on for near half a century so they don't realize that they've been doing big deals for so many for so long, they wouldn't recognize doing a small favor any more than they'd give thought to breathing it's so 2nd nature for them. Give me a couple more days to get up a tape. I except no responsibility for the effect that listening to the tape will have on your future health, I'm only hoping that for the immeditate future the music on this tape will drive you to running outdoors & help with a speedy recovery. Best wishes, Barry

Sandy, you old Scot! So glad to hear you are on the mend, catspaw. It was going to be a real trick packaging up your old tootsie rolls in the catbox so we could each have a comemmorative one; now we can just count on you to come make us some new fresh ones.
You get better and I'll send you my imitation of a catfight (heretofore heard only by close relatives under the age of 12).
Blessings and healing,
Barbara

The congregation was a little perplexed yesterday as I asked to hold "Catspaw" in our thoughts and prayers. After service, when I explained what was happening, they were amazed at the phenomenon called Mudcat. It seems to me that we are all feeling a rush of energy - all focused on Catspaw - and that it is working. We'll keep up the thoughts and prayers, Catspaw. You just keep getting better. Love to you all.

The above address cut and pasted from previous thread. Only thing I would have to send would be some of my practice tapes and they'd probably do more harm than good. Would probably cause some kinda relapse...;) Sure is good to get up this morning and see the good news, thanks for sharing it with us Karen. Let us all remember that we still need to ask His Blessings fo the 'Spaw in whatever way each of us feels most comfortable with.

Please remember that mudcats is here 24 hours a day, so if you have a "restless" night....sign on and we'll guarantee you a hug and a lullabye!....(As I discovered here, there is no limit on posting size, so if you just need to talk.....some of these phoaks are incredibly good listeners.. and can help you "regroup"!)Wondering if Pat has his FAVORITE music on CD's...if not can we help get it on CD's for him??? I'm somehow visualizing him recieving a few hundred CD's of "Turning Toward The Morning"!!!

Well, I did have that one in mind, plus maybe a couple of others. Seemed appropriate. If the ol' Catspaw found 'em too romantic for his rebellious spirit, he could give 'em to his wonderful mother-in-law! I fell in love upon reading her first message to us all. With Karen and her mother surrounding him with love, and all our thoughts and prayers heading his way, we'll soon be enjoying his contributions again. It has been pretty tame around here lately, hasn't it?

I was forcibly logged off all weekend, and I'm so glad that this is the news that awaited me upon my return! I fervently hope that Cowtown Columbus (I can say it, I'm a Buckeye) has ports for laptops in the ICU so we can hear from the man himself. In the meantime I'm still sending positive thoughts toward Ahia.

Dear Mr. Patterson,

We at the Neil Young Center for the Terminnaly Screwed were quite concerned to hear of your illness. Over the years, you have been one of our most important supporters. Your patient referrals and your financial contributions have been a major boost to our efforts in assisting the unfortunate victims of TS.

These contributions have made possible the completion just last month of our Rick James wing, housing the Funk Rehabilitation Department and our Groupie Halfway House. We are also pleased to report some other exciting news. A new department is being created, to be placed under the direction of Mr. Young himself: The Catspaw Clinic for Falsetto Vocal Reconstruction, in your honor, sir. Yes, Neil thought you would be pleased.

In closing, we are all wishing you a speedy recovery. Because of our strict policy of anonymity in regard to our clients, we cannot mention any names, but several patients who frequent the Mudcat Cafe cyber site are extremely agitated about your illness. In fact, if we had not physically restrained him as well as doubling his meds,Banjer would probably be at your side right now.

Wishing you the best,

Cletus Dumont

Director, NYCTS

Hey Guys and Gals!!

I think Karen said she bought Catspaw a CD player. That would imply that tapes are not much help. I just put in my order to CDNow, through the Support the Mudcat link of course, to go direct to the Hospital.

Thanks, Karen, for letting us know. I did ask about music and now I can do something more concrete for Catspaw. He's getting John Prine's Aimless Love and Guy Clark's Friends, two of my favorites!

Oh, Banjer, Reg, whoever you ARE! Thanks for making me LMAO!!!

I've a suggestion, phoaks. We know 'Spaw is gonna git a lot of them cd thingys. And, I know he'll 'preciate them. But I also was thinkin' (scary, I know!) about the extra expenses he and Karen must be having what with being away from home and all and it occured to me another thing we might all think about sending is prepaid telephone cards. Not that we'd all expect a phone call from His Mightiness or anythin'. Just to help in a little way with whatever they need. There must be others they keep in touch with who are not "permanently attached to 'pewters" like us and, when he does get ready for a laptop, maybe that would help with that, too. Just a thought.

Catspaw update, I told Pat that since he couldn't hang around you catters, I was taking his place. I think he is going through mudcat withdrawal. He asked me what I thought of you guys and I really couldn't find the words to tell him what you have given me this week. Pat was sitting up twice today, his O2 is at 97-100%, and all vitals are good. He and the doc decided one more day on the vent would allow him to be even stronger so tomorrow should be the day. I spent the day by his side and we both did some napping. I also spent a lot of time making to-do lists. I never do the things on the list, I just make the list. I'm not worried about the little things, they'll all fall into line. My focus is to give our catspaw the best I have to give and bring him home healthy and happy. All equipment at the hospital has to be approved through engineering before use. I waited two days and when Rachel(wonderful nurse) found it had not been approved she called them. They told her it was an illegal piece of equipment and could not be approved. I decided to break the rules and she decided she didn't see a thing and Catspaw got his music. I will remember forever the love and prayers you have sent our way. I will be home every night now to visit and bring you continued good news. forever close to my heart, "K"atspaw

Great news, Karen! And now I've gone and developed a cyber-crush on your sister as well as your mother. Are there any more great people in your family? Thank goodness Caroline shares my feelings about you all (I've been reading these postings to her), it prevents unreasonable jealousy. Glad you decided to ignore the restrictive rules, too, so that ol' Catspaw can have some music to keep his mind out of the litter-box. We sure do miss his imaginative excursions here.

Well Catspaw, I'm a little slow coming around to this, that's 'cuz I'm one of those guys who doesn't generally know what to say in times like this (except stuff like.. Or are you just too dadblame stubborn to cash in a Cats life for a little old aneurated whatchamacallit?

Yahoo! Hooray! WheeHah!

I'm only online at work, and I come in every morning with a sense of dread about logging onto the mudcat. I'm so glad the news is good!

What with the music, and the illegal equipment, and Paw 'n' Cletus, and Reg, Reg, 'n' Reg, and all us mudcatters out here, and a terrific family by his bedside, "The Concerned One" has to realize that 'Spaw is far more necessary here on earth than he is in heaven.

Karen,

Thanks for the updates. The Mudcat is one of my first priorities when I get home from work, and since Pat's illness, it has become a higher priority.

I haven't met Catspaw, but I have dearly loved his contribution to this Forum. I have grown to care about him and was real sorry you all couldn't make it to DC for Rick's concert. That was the only disappointment for the entire evening.

I am glad to hear that the news has all been uphill since 'Spaws crash. I guess he never completed high school biology or he would have known it is safer to dissect frogs than aneuryisms.

I do hope he goes "over the edge" in his recovery!

Love,

RiB

Well, jest like Willie, we's on the road again, cept we's a lot cleaner now and so is the pickyup since Paw didn't believe thet flatlander about them miles an' miles o' water an' decided he's agonna find out fer hisself. Them folks was right helpful, apickin' us out the water an' all. Got the truck most near dried out too. Only trace left is thet little minner that swims around in the water in the dash. He goes from the 10 to the 80 in the speedometer back and forth. Some police feller tole Paw thet in order to keep aheadin' in the right direction he needs to keep the sun on his right side, problem is he tole him thet in the mornin', come about one o'clock paw makes a goldern u-turn so's he can keep the sun on his right like he was tole. Lucky fer us he don't drive near as fast after noon so's I reckon we make about 10 miles a day in the right direction....Cain't tell thet ole man nuthin nohow.....Ya'll tell Catspaw to hang in there, help's a commin'....Soon as it gets to be my turn ta drive I'll make some goldurn headway, you wait'n see...Contrary old fart...grumble....grumble....

thanks for the update Karen, and for the good news. It seems that old 'Paw has cornered the market in wonerful women, he even gets a great nurse! Perhaps I'll have to move to the US. By the way, since no-one else has asked, now he's a bit stroger, can you talk to the vet about getting him "fixed". I'm having to use a computer at work as the smell still lingers on my official Mudcat machine!

Seriously though, I think what we have learned about what a wonderful family you all are over the last week or so has ruined his reputation forever. Just hope he doesn't have a relapse trying to spray in the corner long distance to try and restore it!

Best wishes to you all and especially to Pat for a continuing and speedy recovery.

Pete M

Karen: A good nurse is sometimes worth 2 or 3 docs! (But don't tell my nursing staff, or my many nurse realtives, I said it!)... So... when will he be able to have an outlaw tape player as well?

Cheers, BK

I wander off for a little while and this happens.Catspaw, I've got you in my prayers and keep up the good work on mending. Today I looked in my mailbox and was excited to find that my Official Mudcat Decoder T-shirt had just arrived. I am looking forward to reading more of the Great Catspaw writings so that I may actually find out what you are really saying. Waiting for your return.

Craig

More good news everyone....THE VENT IS HISTORY The thing came out and he has been talking ever since. Our teenager wanted to know if we could keep a spare at home to shut him up. Tired of parental lectures I guess. The aneurysm is stable. His lungs are improving. I asked the pulmonary specialist for specifics and we were dealing with bronchitis/emphysema exacerbated by congestive heart failure(or maybe the other way around). Its hard to tell which came first. So then the aorta says, "Look what I can do"! He is doing great and the doctor said he will be home soon. AMAZING!!! I asked him he had a message for everyone...he said no, but watch out, I saw the wheels turning. I think he wants to deliver message himself. I just realized I am falling asleep at the computer. Would like to keep going, but am very tired. Got home and my teenager jumped out at me from behind the van. I thought they'd have to put me in the hosp, or the kid which I started throwing things at. I don't think taco bell and donuts for dinner are very heart healthy, do you?

All your prayers, energy and love worked wonders.

deliriously yours, Katspaw

I am truly laughing with joy! This is wonderful news. Watch those medical labels, though. I know it is very important to know what you're dealing with, but my diagnosis was/is CHF and I am living proof it doesn't have to be dire nor fatal! Way to go,'Spaw!!!! Keep up the good health!

Love you all,

I think, along with Vixen, that we've all been approaching this thread with a recurring sense of anxiety each time we log on. Your news tonight, Karen, provides us with a renewed spirit of hope and great relief. We'll keep doing our part, never fear. Now get some rest, and give him warmth and love from all of us tomorrow.

Sandy

Karen,

I am overjoyed at this news. At last I can quit holding my breath. I think I smell a road trip in the offing.

Now, I second my good friend Sandy. Go to bed and rest. We are happy beyond belief for you.

Mick
