Subject: RE: The Transports 2017! From: GUEST Date: 13 Jan 17 - 05:24 AM "I think it would be a wonderful idea if any money made from Transports was donated to The Samaritans, if that happens already, please accept my apologies." I wonder if, in fact, it will make any money, after all the performers must be paid and such a project will require not an inconsiderable amount of rehearsal time, to say nothing of venue hire, agents' fees, and I would imagine a lawyer and accountant are needed for contractual and financial matters. One can always ask one of the performers on the merch table. I got the impression from Paul Sartin that a recording will be done, and the one rehearsal recording aired on the Folk Show sounded very good indeed - despite my dear wife insisting that the ladies should have been higher in the mix!!! |
Subject: RE: The Transports 2017! From: FreddyHeadey Date: 12 Jan 17 - 06:54 PM re: charities They seem to have some contacts with local refugee support groups. Maybe they'll have some sort of exit collection. There are some links here on their "Parallel Lives" page : http://www.thetransportsproduction.co.uk/parallel-lives/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Matthew Crampton (the narrator) has written a book and show Human Cargo. Subject: RE: The Transports 2017! From: GUEST,ChrisJBrady Date: 12 Jan 17 - 11:56 AM Point taken .... Iam sorting out loads of Beeb programmes about Peter - I'd forgotten his sad passing. To me he is still alive with his singing 'ear-worming' around in my head. |

Subject: RE: The Transports 2017! From: Bonzo3legs Date: 07 Jan 17 - 10:55 AM The trick is to set record level at no more than 50% at the start to allow for such inevitable increases in volume through the gig, that normally avoids any overloading of the recorder's mic preamps, which sounds terrible when using a modern digital recorder! |
Subject: RE: The Transports 2017! From: Richard Mellish Date: 05 Jan 17 - 03:36 PM When I see things like "Award-winning record producer Andy Bell will be the sound engineer for the production" I start to worry whether it will be deafeningly loud. I had to walk out of one production last year in (of all places!) the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse: a representation of a Jacobean theatre, with lighting only by candles, yet amplified sound. |

From: FreddyHeadey Date: 05 Jan 17 - 02:49 PM Guest,SB The Cecil Sharp ticket page is : https://uk.patronbase.com/_CecilSharpHouse/Productions/21/Performances Ents24 seems to be used quite a bit by the busier bands. I use their 'alerts'/'track' button and I don't get bothered with any extra spammy stuff. get alerts for a venue e.g. https://www.ents24.com/london-events/cecil-sharp-house or get alerts for an artist e.g. https://www.ents24.com/uk/tour-dates/the-young-uns or see 'folk' in London https://www.ents24.com/whatson/search/genre/celtic%2Cfolk/near/London/radius/10/order/date |
Subject: RE: The Transports 2017! From: GUEST,CJB Date: 05 Jan 17 - 11:59 AM See the Cecil Sharp House event is £22 for a 2 hour show - less if there's a mid-show interval. That's pricey. |

Community radio stations? Southbank programme? Only heard about the show on Mudcat - but not how to get tickets. Is there a list of venues anywhere; and ticket prices? Website? |
