Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sloop John 'A' From: Liz the Squeak Date: 31 May 03 - 03:34 AM Ah, I see what the problem is.... mrsackroyd.com is an Email address - in which case someone better tell the site manager for the Mrs Ackroyd Band site, because that's where I lifted it from, under the impression it was Les' page. If you have Outlook Express Email (newer versions) it will create new mail for you. If you don't, it will give you the error 101 page. Mr Happy's link takes you to what I was trying to direct you to. Up at present is My Husbands Got No Porrige In Him. I keep going back to his site for the gems displayed within, and also to see his collection of "trains". http://www.compulink.co.uk/~ackroyd/welcome.htm Cant do the "Make a link" as my pooters browser has gone all peculiar & wont do links. Subject: DTADD: Sloop John 'A' (Les Barker) From: Richard Bridge Date: 30 May 03 - 01:58 AM I have run this past Clive Lever who is organising a charity record project for BCAB (the British Computer Association for the Blind) of a set of Les Barker words performed by various stars and well known people (all of whom are donating their services). The record will be out later this year He says: - "Hi Richard, I do so wish I could join in the mudcat discussions. Are you sure you can't subscribe to the discussion list by sending an email to a given address e.g. 'mudcat-subscribe@whatever.com'? I'll definitely want to plug the Guide Cats for the Blind compilation CD there, or suggest to Richard Ellin (Osmosys Records) that he do so. You may wish to intimate that you know of an interesting Les Barker compilation due out in the summer. Among the tracks, Cyril Tawney has recorded his own 'Lassie Free and Easy'. Meanwhile: SLOOP JOHN A
We looked for the Sloop John A; We looked for it all day;
Where can the John A be? Maybe the A's at sea;
The first mate was not there, Maybe he was elsewhere;
Where can the John A be? Maybe the A's at sea;
The day was a non-event, It seemed the A had went;
Where can the John A be? Maybe the A's at sea;
Lyrics: Les Barker, published in 'Sitting With My Dog On Display'. |
