Subject: RE: Who is not going to Sidmouth 2005 From: EagleWing Date: 09 May 05 - 12:00 PM What a pity that some people, like Countess Richard and Fionna seem to have to shout rude words in public places and attack people in an open forum. It seems to me that there are a lot of sick folk around who cannot survive without messing up other people's fun. Frank L. |

I'll only answer posts that have relevance, or a little humour, preferably good humour. It's a terrible strain, but I'm managing so far. Don T. |

Subject: RE: Who is not going to Sidmouth 2005 From: GUEST,Mr Schofield Date: 03 Jun 05 - 03:14 PM I have looked at the festival guide and looked at the cost of the camping and talked it over with my family and we came to the conclusion that Eastleigh was better for us as a family to beable to do individual things than Sidmouth. But i wish Sidmouth well. Subject: RE: Who is not going to Sidmouth 2005 From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 03 Jun 05 - 06:50 PM Thank you for the good wishes, John, and I hope you will enjoy youselves at Eastleigh. Everyone has to decide on what seems best use of the limited leisure time we get. I hope we shall see you all at Sidmouth again in the future. Don T. |
Subject: RE: Who is not going to Sidmouth 2005 From: GUEST,Sidmouth Resident Date: 15 Jun 05 - 06:03 AM And that's the problem Mr. Harris sir. The Folk Week this year looks likely to be well-supported by people who come more to participate than watch but the people who come to watch will be far fewer in numbers because the big arena shows and international artists they enjoyed watching are no longer involved. Sidmouth may well become little more than an annual gathering of singers, musicians and dancers. Nothing wrong with such a gathering but there are many similar gatherings. Without the arena and the international aspect there is nothing to make Sidmouth stand out from the crowd. |
Subject: RE: Who is not going to Sidmouth 2005 From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 15 Jun 05 - 06:42 AM Reading all these posts, I have realised that we don't, any of us have much idea what proportion of those who are going want Sidmouth to return to its former style, and what proportion want it to be smaller, and performer oriented. So I'm about to start a thread to find out. Look out for it later today under the heading "Sidmouth 2005 attenders" Hopefully we will learn that most want the old Sidmouth back (as do I), but at least we'll know for sure. Don T. |

If you can't see what makes Sidmouth so special, even with a smaller Folk Week, then you're living in the wrong place mate! Good idea of yours Don....have already been on your new thread. Subject: RE: Who is not going to Sidmouth 2005 From: Tattie Bogle Date: 15 Jun 05 - 07:42 PM Sidmouth - and all festivals - have changed over the years from being largely a spectator sport to being participant based; witness the huge programme of workshops available for those who want to learn or enhance their playing skills or singing. In all the years I have been to Sidmouth, there has been an explosion in terms of people buying and carrying instruments about - and sometimes even playing them! We are not dealing with a static situation! TB |
