Subject: RE: Tune Req: Tunes for weaving Maypole From: Dave the Gnome Date: 26 Apr 23 - 10:03 AM I think it depends on the dance, Guest. The first ones in the link I provided areWest Country Polkas. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Tunes for weaving Maypole From: Steve Gardham Date: 26 Apr 23 - 03:36 PM I suppose it depends partly on what sort of stepping you want the dancers to do. I've seen just walking round, skipping, and hop-step used. Other than that I'd say almost any lively tune would suffice. As with longsword different teams use different stepping. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Tunes for weaving Maypole From: Steve Gardham Date: 27 Apr 23 - 10:48 AM Yep, that's a good bouncy tune. Only problem I can see is if the dancers have seen the Billy Connoly performance with him skipping about on stage to that tune they might fall about laughing and get their ribbons crossed. Yes I know, that's the idea :-) |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Tunes for weaving Maypole From: GUEST,.gargoyle Date: 29 Apr 23 - 09:04 PM Is it ever common... For one couple to intentionally, Miss step, change the weave? Just to standout on the pole. Sincerely, Gargoyle . It is certainly something I would do. |
