ok i am gonna try again and i am gonna be more specific here.i am looking for a version of two sisters that i have heard on a tape (1960 tape in stpaul) of bob dylan singing a version of the two sisters (not pentangles cruel sister this song has a very very different melody in fact it is quite melodically different from the versions on this site)
the first verse is clearly the following
there was an old lady lived by the seashore
    bow and balance to me
the was an old lady lived by the seashore
the number of stars it was one two three four

now ill be true to my love
is long as shes true to me
i think it comes from an alan lomax collection of north american folk songs (yes i know it has english origins)

I have not been able to find any lyrics for this particular version, but DID find a lot of controversy posted regarding whether or not it was actually dylan on the tape.

As we now have two simultaneous threads going on the same question, it would probably be a good idea to continue in the original one:  Lyr/Chords Req: the two sisters.

Hi Simon,

A search engine gave a lot of hits when Alan Lomax was typed in - including a Rounder collection. The album list included "A Sister's Lament" (probably wrong) but no two sisters. One of the other links may help you in your search for this specific version.

Rana.

OK, I'm interested. Where can I find a recording of Dylan singing a version of "The Two Sisters"?

I like the Tom Waits version. Now I get to look forward to hearing Dylan's version.
